About us

Originally The Rose and Crown was built as a wooden shed by the Kerry family in 1786, utilised for the growing coach trade in the area. In 1935, the pub was rebuilt, set further back from the road, re-opening in 1937. The grounds cover an ancient crossroads, so watch out for ghostly highwaymen when you leave!

A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Whether you are planning dinner with friends or Sunday lunch with family, book a table online and enjoy some quality time with those you love the most.

Lovely, welcoming, and cosy, food excellent with spectacular presentation. Staff all very friendly, toilets well presented and clean, dispties it being a very cold day the temperature inside was ambient. Well worth a visit

A great family gathering at a smashing venue. It's great to be able to eat out in a group and take your well-behaved dog. The storm damage on the garden/carpark looks very untidy. I hope this gets cleaned away for summer. Don't let it put you off. Good pint of beer. Good pleasant staff. Good plate of food main course and dessert.

Not been here for a few years but it did not disappoint! Loved the food, service (by Lucy) was brilliant and we can’t wait to come back! ☺️

Service was polite and efficient. However our Christmas Dinner cost me £300 not a particularly cheap option. The online portal had not registered our menu choices properly so I needed to email them through on Christmas eve to ensure they had been received. When we arrived at 3.10pm for a 3.15pm booking, we had to wait for a while for our table, apologies were made, which was okay. It appeared we were almost definitely the final table for a late Christmas lunch so the pub was very busy. The food was overall nice and well presented but little things were not quite as we would have liked them. The roast parsnips were almost completely raw and barely cooked at all. It was obvious the other tables had been given crackers to pull. Not us though we were told you had run out of them. Plus the table we were on was right next to the toilet door so every time the door opened there was a very chilly breeze. The service was happy, cheery and efficient though. We just felt a little sidelined as we were eating later than most. Which for £300 we really shouldn't have.
