About us

The Yew Tree at Cauldon is an Aladdin’s Cave of antiques, curios, music machines and motorcycles. The collection includes a pair of Queen Victoria’s Stockings, a 3,000-year-old Grecian urn, Penny farthing and Bone Shaker bicycles. There is also the famous ‘Acme Dog Carrier’, an array of unusual musical instruments including an ancient Serpent. The seating is equally interesting with antique benches, church pews & settles. The pub is very dog friendly, and you will most likely be met by a very barky dog called Maude as your welcome to the pub!

Alan, the landlord for over 50 years is still at the pub although his stepson Dan took over the running of the Yew Tree Inn in 2013. There have been a few changes but nothing that affects the magic of the interior. One of the biggest changes was a refurb of the loos, these were certainly overdue in need of lick of paint!

During the pandemic, Dan created the 'Yew Tree Inn (Side Out)' a new addition that aims to bring some of the ambience of the pub into a large marquee with its own outside bar, solid floor and pub furnishings.

Just went in with a dozen mates on a Sunday afternoon and made to be very welcome. Fantastic pub with lots of interesting antiques and locals! We’ll be back!

An interesting old pub, with lots of unusual things scattered around and about, e.g., old motorcycles, farm machinery, one arm bandits, bicycles, furniture etc etc......oh, and a live tortoise in the room wandering around its enclosure by the fireplace! Food was a basic wholesome affair. We had steak and ale pie, mash and mushy peas in gravy followed by cherry pie and custard...very welcome after a long walk. Quality and price were excellent. Recommended!

Quirky little place. Very friendly. Excellent service. Greeted by Maude the resident dog who kindly shared her biscuits with our Millie and other visitors. Lunch was lovely and a great pint too. Definitely call again
