Established in 1189, but there is no concrete historical evidence for this. The first documented evidence of a pub in this location dates back to 1751, but ask any Nottingham student and they will be adamant this is the real deal.

Many people believe the pub is named ‘Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem’ because people made a trip to jerusalem from here. In fact the word “trip” does not mean a journey in this case. An old meaning for ‘trip’ is a stop on a journey, like being tripped up, so the inn’s name means a stop or rest on the way to Jerusalem. Why not follow in the pilgrims tradition and pop in on your way past the pub for a quick pint or a nibble?.
We went for the atmosphere. Built into a cave partially. Very unique experience. Good was good. Good drink list to choose from. Lots of history. Wish we could have done the haunted tour. We were here on New Years Day and lots closed that day. Glad for this place being open for lunch!
Tasted as the oldest pub in England (albeit there are a few other contenders), the pub dates back to the times of the Crusades. Nested within the Caves under Nottingham Castle it is steeped in history. A must stop for anyone visiting Nottingham. An excellent selection of real Ales on offer. It does get busy at times though.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Already been here twice in a week! Being an Indian and vegetarian in United Kingdom, I was unable to find food according to my taste preferences. I used to find everything bland, even food from fast food restaurants. But this place completely flipped my mind. The food is brilliant. We ordered a loaded nachos, vegan burger, vegetarian mac and cheese, garlic breads, and onion rings. The burger was so flavourful. It had caramelised onions, a thick cutlet, salad and sauces. The mac and cheese is the best one I’ve ever had. You can try it with the garlic breads because that is a superb combination. The onion rings are as crisp as autumn leaves. Nachos are very unique and simply delicious. Apart from the food, the whole vibe of the place is to die for. The interiors are gorgeous. The staff and service is a 10/10. The place is pet friendly! I highly recommend Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem.
My husband said that this is the highlights on our trip to Nottingham. We will definitely comeback here! The pub is actually a cave which is amazing and the foods are fantastic. It was quite busy when we dine here but the service was still quick. I recommend advance booking as I think this pub is always packed.
One of the oldest pubs in England. Interesting place in a great location with plenty of seating both indoors and out. The selection is what your expect from a pub. The quality is fine and the meals are filling. I didn't like that not all the ingredients are listed on the menu. For example, aioli, mayonnaise and other condiments are not listed under the burger contents next to the cheese, onions, etc. As someone with a food intolerance and a knack for avoiding conflict, it meant I didn't even get to eat my meal. Please list all the contents of the dish!!! The garlic bread was absolutely delicious, as was the pie.
