Unusual Swiss chalet venue housing a traditional community pub serving pub grub.
It's the world famous and iconic Ye Olde Swiss Cottage. This is the pub that gave it's name to the area of London now known as Swiss Cottage. Part of Samuel Smith, Yorkshire's oldest brewery and proud to serve a great range of hand-crafted, traditionally brewed beers.
The best pub experience ever! You'll find someone reading in a corner quietly, a bar staff with a 'no phones/laptops, just talk' t-shirt and a few other people playing cards, chess, darts. It's a huuuuge space (upstairs + outdoors too)with no TVs, no music. You'll finally be able to chill properly with your friends, and not have to shout!! It feels like a library really, it's beautiful with lots of wood, colourful carpets and dark lighting. Everyone I spoke to was really friendly, it felt like a proper village pub, without the intimidating old mannies at the bar. I'd move to Swiss Cottage and drink everyday for this pub!
Great location just outside the underground. Plenty of picnic table seating outside for the summer. Inside is a bit dark but has all the traditional pub ambience. The landlord keeps a couple of beers at a lower price ( a bitter and a larger). Much appreciated! I haven’t tried the food but it’s a regular pub for me when I’m in the area.
My favourite pub in London. The manager, Parima is lovely and very welcoming. I have visit the pub with my friends frequently and she made our stays amazing. Not a fan of pub food but I enjoyed most things on the menu. Great choices of beverages as expected from a traditional pub.
As trailed here on Google reviews, an intriguing but pleasant place for a pint. Very quiet when I visited on a Sunday evening; staff were welcoming enough and offered a Sam smiths selection which was fine. The main draw here is the oddity of the building, but I’m genuinely drawn back by the quiet, warm and inviting atmosphere.
I live locally and came here for the first time on Easter Sunday. People will probably be expecting more since the area is the namesake of this pub and is iconic, but it’s an interesting one. You could look at it as a tired, quiet, depressing pub with no atmosphere, or a nice, old, cosy pub with quiet refuge from the hustle and bustle of outside. It’s rare to walk into a pub of this size and location on a Sunday and have only half a dozen people drinking quietly and playing chess. Customers came in enquiring about the football and rarer beers but were turned away — very unusual these days but I actually respect it. Choice of beers isn’t too good, being a Samuel Smith pub, and I didn’t try the food, but worth a visit if you want some quiet contemplation and relaxing chat. It’s a super busy area, so somewhere with no music thumping, no tv sport blaring and no loud conversations blabbering is welcome. It’s a no frills, old boy pub. Some will find it disappointing and others will find it just what they need.
