A stylish, modern Oyster bar and eclectic restaurant in an 11th-century abbey with a beautiful historic riverside terrace.
A gorgeous riverside location, The Winery is a stunning bar and restaurant steeped in history which has been carefully renovated to the highest standard whilst embracing every aspect of its past. The Winery is set within the Abbey and was first established in 650AD for religious uses. Since then it has a colourful past as a religious college, parish use and home to ‘The Master of the Infirmary’. From 1910 the building was taken over by the Burton Club who transformed it into a public house ‘The Abbey Inn’, eventually developing into the wonderful bar and restaurant it is today.
The new Winery menus reflect our passion and love of fresh produce and also seafood. We’ve found the very best suppliers providing us with the very best produce. We then prepare these for you in our favourite dishes, or, if you prefer, try some of them raw at our Oyster Bar! Have a look and then come and try for yourself;.

We were celebrating my sister in law's 60th birthday. We all were impressed by the quality of the food. We had a great time! Can't impress just how good the experience was. Highly recommended. 5 stars is not enough!!

We came in tonight for a birthday meal for my partner with our 2 daughters. Thank you so so much to all of the wonderful staff and ESPECIALLY to Grae! We were absolutely amazed with the level of customer service that was provided to us and the food quality was totally out of this world 😍 We had booked the Bollinger Chalet and couldn’t believe how wonderful it was, absolutely beautiful and so intimate! Thank you again, we will be sure to come back sometime x
Great atmosphere, really good service, food tasted amazing. They had a separate vegetarian and vegan menu, with plenty of dishes to choose from, all courses. The vegan Mushroom Wellington and Soup of the house tasted great! They also had a vegan drinks menu, which is quite nice. Prices could be a bit higher than most places.
Absolutely stunning place. Beautiful location and building, everything fabulously furnished and appointed and spotless. Service extremely friendly and approachable albeit a bit forgetful. Very nice people. Food was tasty but lacked real finesse. All the fish on the seafood trio were overcooked. Kids menu is great with a fair bit of choice. Cocktail menu is excellent with a good wine choice too. Would love to come back on a summer's day and sit in the beautiful garden.
