We live locally to this pub and decided to have a birthday dinner for my wife and family there. The food/service was outstanding from booking to a lovely birthday cake at the end of our meal. A big thank you to Karen and her team for making it a brilliant experience.
We stopped at The Butt of Sherry before going to Stourhead for their Christmas event. We visited on a Sunday afternoon so the menu was a bit smaller, consisting of a selection of three starters, three different Sunday Roasts (including a Vegetarian option), and then a selection of desserts. This suited us perfectly, as a Sunday Roast was exactly what we were after! The pub is what I would call a proper pub. It was welcoming, friendly, had a nice atmosphere, and was comfortable. The service was great, and the lady that served us was an absolute delight. To start I had the Soup, which was Mushroom and Thyme. It’s always difficult to make Mushroom soup look appealing, but what it lacked in appearance, it made up for in taste. It was piping hot and delicious, and it was a very generous portion. We then settled on the Roast Pork Loin for main. I couldn’t quite believe the size of it when it turned up. Again, it was piping hot, with plenty of vegetables and gravy. It had lots of extras too which elevated the dish further. It’s the best Roast Lunch I’ve had out in a very long time, and for the price, it was an absolute steal. For two starters, two Roasts with all the trimmings, two pints, and two glasses of wine it was under £60, which I thought was very good value for the quality and size of the dishes we had. I would highly recommend a visit to The Butt of Sherry if you’re looking for a really superb Roast in a warm and friendly pub.
Very nice place,we stopped here for a quick lunch. Portion was enough and taste 😊 the staff is very kind. Service is excellent 👌 you must visit this place!
