Live locally and have been frequenting the pub for many years. Love the traditional decor, so lovely to sit in front of the open fire or by the wood burner. Really good food and ale. The staff always friendly. There’s a nice little beer garden where we love sitting out in the summer. Parking just a minutes walk up the road. Very lucky to have this so close to home.
We used to live locally and visited often. We decided to try it again and glad we did. We had the most amazing vegetarian burger and chips. I hope it stays on the menu as it really was so good. The people on the next table were raving about their food too, so it's safe to say the general quality is good. The pub was quiet ( we ate mid week lunch time) . The bar staff/ landlords were pleasant and helpful. It's an old fashioned pub with open fires, hunting scenes, cosy nooks so it has a traditional vibe if that's what you are after. Accessibility wise there is plenty of parking just up the road in the car park, there are a few steps to get into the building. Definitely worth a visit.
This pub is a little gem hidden off the beaten track in a village near Teignmouth. It’s full of history, built originally in the 1600s, wonky walls, oak beams and roaring log fires add to the charm. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and we were served quickly. We went straight into the mains with rump steak for my husband and fish and chips for me, followed by St Clements posset with shortbread - absolutely delicious. Good range of beers and very nice wines too. We will be back soon. Our second visit was last week. We sat outside in the delightful patio and garden area overlooking the village church and surrounded by flowers, it was a treat. Our food was excellent - bang bang cauliflower was followed by hake and cod mornay and salmon and prawn linguine which were absolutely delicious. The St Clements posset, with the shortest shortbread ever, topped off our meal very nicely. We left feeling very full and happy. Can’t recommend this place highly enough, we will be back again.
Great place. Pain to park if C/p is full but worth the effort. Food was superb and wholly recommend the mussels. Excellent. Good selection of gin and bar staff were good fun. All mains were on time and beautifully cooked. Recommend this place wherever possible but book early. Went again last night 15/10/22 and again a superb evening. Very comfortable. Lovely staff, friendly and obliging. Food was just sublime. Absolutely no portion control and we were all completely full and more. Just a wonderful experience in a great setting. It is a place I save for special occasions. Well worth the excitement and build up to visiting. Totally recommend this as a top 'secret' venue. Outstanding.
