Pub has limited ales on (probably because of it being early January). Drinks seemed expensive compared to other nearby pubs. The Pigs in blankets were tasty!
The ciders we ordered were poured from cardboard boxes that were stacked on top of the bar. The drinks had no carbonation and also weren't cold, how could they? The tables were sticky although there was not much going on. Avoid.
Went to the pub to eat as on a day trip looked like a friendly pub from outside. Yes I know it was busy as folk dancing festival, but it wasn't rammed, a few people waiting at the bar to be served, 3 bar staff on so I thought the wait wouldn't be long. As iam disabled and on a stick and so was my companion,I found us a seat sat her down went to the bar to get served I had to lean against a post as standing for a while hurts, I don't know if he didn't see my stick thought I was pushing in but he served 3 people looked me in the eye and went and served over the other side of the bar ! I was speechless, he had dark hair black white checked shirt. I lady eventually served me wasn't cheap but hey. The whistling lady as that is what she done most of the time we were there got my drinks not thank you nothing ! I had a tray table up 2 steps she could see I was on a stick never offered help so I had to struggle and do 2 trips, I was livid but having paid for the drinks we had them but I refused to order food as they were plain to rude. I know we were only holiday makers not regulars, but running a pub even in the most stressful times , you can be polite if not happy, I should know I run a pub ! So if you want a warm friendly pub and you are a visitor this pub isn't for you ! I am going back to Swanage in December I will never go in this pub again !
Proper pub for locals, as well as catering to the tourist looking foe the real town. No frills, good food, good service. Always friendly staff, and a nice beer terrace. Had live music on bank holiday weekend, it was heaving and good fun
It was ok. The service was friendly, kids welcome. They had board games scattered around the windowsills which kept the kids sitting still while we all had a drink and packet of crisps! But it did smell of toilets in the bar area which bought the experience down a bit. Didn't eat so can't comment on the food. Overall, it was a good rest stop to get off our feet while wondering around Swanage.
