A quintessential village inn with three stylish en-suite B&B rooms, serving fantastic drinks and locally sourced cooked meals with a friendly welcome.
We’re located on the edge of the North York Moors National Park only 4 miles from the World Famous Black Swan at Olstead. We serve a great selection of drinks including local hand-pulled ales and a selection of delicious wines. We also have 2 king size, and 1 super king bed and breakfast rooms (please note access is up steep stairs due to the layout of the building). We can’t wait to welcome you!.
Just stayed at this traditional pub for two nights. Lovely warm, comfy room. Pub has flagstone floors and two fires. Barman Albert was great. Chatty and welcoming. John and Dawn served us a fab breakfast. Serves local beer from Helmsley Brewery amongst other breweries. Very competitive prices. If you are looking for traditional, this is a great place to visit or stay.
We had a very pleasant stay here for a weekend early October. The room was exceptionally clean. The bed was amazingly comfortable. We only had a chance to have their breakfasts at the time as dinners were not available at the time. As I see from more recent reviews it sounds like the dinners are wonderful! Next time we come John and Dawn! The breakfast was superb! John and Dawn were amazing hosts and were very helpful and accommodating in every way! This was our first time in the UK. Thanks again, Pamela and Howard from Canada
Visited for dinner for my wife's birthday. Wonderful atmosphere in an historic pub. Lovely food, lovely service.
This is an amazing village pub with roaring fires and lovely food. We stayed 2 nights and ate in the pub both nights. Very good value for the quality. The locally brewed Helmsley pale ale was just £3.90 a pint with some great pub grub - Fish & Chips with tartar sauce £14.95 or pie and chips the same. I had the F&C's the first night and the turkey ballotine with creamed Brussel sprouts and fondant potato the second night. High end master chef productions and the puddings were fab - the custard tart (crème Brule) style with ginger ice cream was a knock out and only £7.95. This is a gem of a place in a lovely setting. Andy and Dawn the owners are amazing and Albert who works at the bar cant do enough to make the guest experience wonderful. Plus all the locals are super friendly and all dogs are welcome too.
Wonderful place to stay with outstandingly good food and comfortable rooms. I recommend everything on the menu, in particular the custard tart with gingerbread ice cream on the festive menu.
