About us

The White Eagle underwent a major redevelopment in 2007 after it was bought by the Timpson family in 2007, and remains a fond Anglesey landmark for both residents and visitors alike.

The village of Rhoscolyn has a long and fascinating history, with its patron saint, Gwenfaen, first making her home and church here in 630 AD. A church remains on the site today, named St Gwenfaen after its patron. Legend has it that Gwenfaen, who was renowned for healing mental illness, was chased away from her cell by druids and escaped by climbing the rock stack off Rhoscolyn head. The tide came in and she was carried away by angels, which is how Saints Bay got its name.

Some say that the druids’ last stand against the Romans, who invaded Mona (Anglesey) in 60 or 61 AD, was at Cymyran, the inland sea between Mona and Holy Island and the open sea, south of Four Mile Bridge.

This was a good fine dine restaurant. The place was crowded but provided a good vibe. It was bit of a struggle to get seats so better to book in advance. Most items which we ordered were good. The number of vegetarian options were limited. Staff were busy and it was difficult to find them. Visited July 23.

Stunning visually. Great sitting out area if weather permits. Food was excellent. You can tell they have a good training program as the young staff were spot on in customer service... Attentive but not overbearing.

Lovely find. After a long hard trek from Trearddur bay. Coastal path. Lovely friendly staff. I got the seafood chowder. With bread. Absolutely gorgeous. Wife got profiteroles. Again gorgeous. The weather was glorious. Sat outside. Beautiful place. Highly recommended. 👍

Really nice place to eat, tables were nicely laid out and the outside space is lovely with a really nice view. All the food brought out to various customers all looked fab and tasty, I had roast dinner and it was really good. The staff were really friendly and chatty and the service was amazing. I was served by Olly, we spoke about timpson and how much he enjoyed working there.

Nice selection of beers including some local cask ales and service was excellent. Nicely decorated inside but the day was nice enough to sit on the outside deck area that has views of the sea and distant mountains. Massive beer garden with lots of seating so we had no problems finding a comfortable place to enjoy a couple of beers and relax.
