Stumbled across this pub en route to the Dale's. What a lovely treat. Our waiter Dec couldn't do enough for us and our fury friend. The pub grub was home made and first class. Can't praise it enough. I wish it were closer to home.

While on a visit to the Red Bull factory, I asked a member of staff was there any local pub she could recommend for a meal. Without hesitation she recommended "The Wheatsheaf". On arrival we were met by friendly staff who, even though there were 8 of us showed us to a table. While there we were served by Dec. He was very friendly and nothing seemed to much trouble. There was so much on the menu it was difficult to chose a dish. We all had a great meal, and at a reasonable price. Without hesitation I would recommend this wonderful pub for a good meal and great service. As a Paramedic, it was a nice touch that they offered a free meal to 999 staff on Xmas day.

1st time visit since new owner's have taken over, went on Pie Tuesday night and had a good meal. The Pub has been decorated to a very nice standard, and comes across as a very welcoming venue. The staff were brilliant and made you feel welcome, our waitress was excellent and very attentive, came for the drinks order within minutes of being seated. The food was good but for me personally I would like to have seen more vegetables on the plate, I did feel they were a bit meagre as portion sizes go. The pies themselves were very tasty and clearly hand made, I had pork, sage and apple, the wife had chicken and leek. We did think that both of the pies were slightly undercooked on the bases, this did result in a somewhat soggy bottom which was a shame. This to be fair did not detract from the flavour just failed a bit on the presentation. Pie Tuesday is a great menu offering around 4 or 5 pies on top of the normal menu, very well priced and comes with a choice of a soft drink, glass of house red or white, or a pint of lager. We will definitely be returning, and would recommend this pub.

Came in for lunch with my child. Nice atmosphere. Food was so-so, a bit too greasy for my liking, and my child who is usually a good eater did not like his pasta. Service wasn't entirely friendly nor attentive. Lunch menu was not given until we requested. When asked to repeat what items were unavailable on the menu, the waitress (the manager?) seemed very annoyed. Took a long time to take our order, and missed our drink. The waiter was somewhat friendlier and asked if we wanted to pack our left over, which was considerate. Can easily find better place at this price tho.

Discovered this wonderful place just by driving by and doing a quick u-turn because it looked so nice! Welcomed with a warm smile and friendly waiter who gave us a choice of inside or outside tables. The menu was vast but we opted for the sharing roast dinner trio of meats with some whitebait to begin with. to say we were satisfied would be an understatement, everything was cooked just right, no overboiled or over cooked veg that sometimes happens with Sunday roasts, the meats all juicy, non stop gravy if you chose. All in all a great meal in a very quirky, friendly and clean establishment. Will definitely go again there is no reason not to. Well done all!
