A group of four of us had lunch. The turkey and leek pie was excellent but looked to be on the small side on quite a large plate, the tagliatelli also excellent, the crispy beef was disappointing as it was so chewy it was too difficult to eat. The broccoli stems were also hard. To their credit they offered to replace it. However, we opted to keep it and eat the noodles etc. so were not charged for it. The sausages and mash was wonderfull with a superb gravy. The desserts were also good however, custard was not an option with the sticky toffee pudding, although our waitress said most people asked for it. A chocolate brownie was served to us by mistake, but left anyway, whilst the correct pudding was obtained, but it was however rather dry. Would we go again - it was not cheap, but probably.

We had a wonderful Christmas Day dinner at The Wheatsheaf. The setting was incredibly cosy and the staff were very attentive and friendly. I think the price we paid per person was fair considering it was Christmas Day and we got a lot of food for our money. I cannot fault any of the food and drinks we had: everything was delicious and cooked well. We enjoyed it so much we are planning on having next Christmas here.

The pub is cosy and warm, the staff are so friendly and inviting, even offered to make cocktails not on the menu. Dog friendly which was perfect for us with our pup, they had their own friendly poppy walking around which was so cute (also offered multiple times to move her incase it was annoying, if you are not a dog person, but I was VERY happy for her to stay). The food was perfect, I had the olives for starter and chicken ceaser for main, was very impressed with both and would definitely recommend. My partner had the tempura prawns which he said were ‘to die for’ and the chicken burger for main, it was HUGE and delicious. Would definitely recommend this place and will return when it back this way

I can see why others are giving 4 likely for the price compared to other establishments in the area. I may be biased as a Londoner but the quality of food is definitely worth the price! The pub is wonderful and well decorated and maintained with great history. The staff were lovely, warm and attentive and the food was amazing! We can't recommend this pub enough, everything we ate was really delicious and we had a lot (pictures as evidence) so treat yourself and visit here!

We came here for coffee a few weeks ago, and I spotted the menu. Today we came for lunch. Delicious food. The pub is old, very pretty, with flowers in the garden, and on the tables. A good place to bring visitors to show them old England. We ordered a burger, a halloumi burger and the fish and chips. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was really nice, and more than we could eat. It was slightly pricey compared to other places, but given the setting I felt it was worth the price. I had the malteser cheesecake, which was perfect. Am tempted to return often, just for dessert and coffee (not sure if that’s allowed). Everything seemed clean, including the washrooms. Definitely worth a visit.
