About us

Welcome to The Weyside, a stunning Young's pub on the banks of the River Wey, just a stones throw from the shops & boutiques on Guildford’s cobbled high street and next door to the famed Yvonne Arnaud theatre.

With our riverside setting & large outside terrace, we sit opposite some of the most scenic pastures along The River Wey. When the sun shines there is no better place to enjoy the beauty and community feel of Guildford with the constant stream of narrow boats, kayaks, cyclists and ramblers passing along the river for you to wave at!

If you are planning a gathering, whether it’s a sit down dinner or drinks & nibbles, our stunning Barn with its beams, beautiful décor and river views is really something special. In the colder months, this space really comes into its own with cosy armchairs by the fire.

Our 'dog corner', featuring dog beds, treats & towels for muddy paws, ensures our four legged friends are well catered for after a long walk and we also ensure our younger guests are entertained with board games & toys.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Dan, Anna & the team.

A good Sunday Roast, somewhat let down by a cold Yorkshire pudding. There is a stack of them cooling on a shelf awaiting orders. I'd rather wait an extra 5 or 10 minutes to be served with a warm one. Nice Affogato with quality ice cream and good and hot coffee served in a cup so that you can choose your own way to combine the two.

Fish and chips was delicious. A cut above average. They sell good alcohol free beer too - Erdinger (my fave). Nice atmosphere. Parking in the adjacent paid public car park was very busy, but a sunny Saturday near Xmas…at lunchtime….unsurprising. Nearby canal is worth a wander.

We travelled down to see my son and his girlfriend for the weekend in Guildford and had a gorgeous dinner in the sunshine at this lovely riverside pub. We loved the location, right on the water, and there was loads of choice on the menu for veggies and vegans too, which is not always the case. The burgers are insanely good and the cocktails are fab. A lovely warm and friendly welcome from the staff too. Highly recommend.

Upon arrival we were shown to our table, lacking menus, we were asked “are we ready” by the waiter, to which our response was “could we see the menus”. We were also asked if we would like some water which was nice but later a shock to find we paid £5 for a litre. Following this when we ordered our drinks the waiter decided he would be able to remember the order without writing it down. When the drinks arrived at table they were incorrect to no fault of the server but the waiter whom took the order. Once drinks were sorted and we had viewed the menu. We order our mains, next issue with the service, when my partner, who had the salmon salad, asked for no olives, the waiter arrogantly said that it didn’t come with olives yet on the menu clearly stating “olives” as an ingredient of the dish. The food was delightful and delicious. Unfortunately no one came to check that our food was okay and upon us finishing our food still no checking. When the waiter came to clear our plates they also didn’t check that the food was okay for us. Had there been an issue we would have had sat there for a while before we saw anyone. To finish off the evening when asked if we would like to see dessert menus we said yes but had to wait 5-10 minutes before we then asked another waiter for them. Overall we enjoyed our food and location was beautiful but the service really let the restaurant down.

On visit to UK dropped in here {the old Jolly Farmer) to meet friends. I've been using the pub for 50 years and it felt very familiar. Food very good and reasonable range of beers. Location is amazing and with good weather you can enjoy the beer terraces overlooking the River Wey. My only comment is table service could be extended to more of the terrace tables. Nonetheless I will revisit on return to UK. Recommended
