Originally home to the village's Fire Station, The Partridge was also the local Inn and hotel for those that came to the town via train. The trainline may have long since gone, but those walkers and cyclists taking advantage of the Downs Link use The Partridge as a great stopping point for a drink and bite to eat. The kitchen has a dedication to making all dishes from scratch, using the freshest ingredients. And there's lots of beer, or course.

Lovely bacon brie and cranberry sandwich. Staff lovely and friendly.

The food was good and the staff were friendly. Seems to have a quiet bar and a more lively one.
Visited for the first time Weds 16 August - great place and lovely staff - all making a real effort to chat with us and check everything was ok. Food was outstanding and huge thanks to Nigel the Chef who took time to come and talk to us. We will definitely be coming back for one of his famous roasts and will bring our dogs too as they are very much welcomed! Thanks for the great food and great experience! An odd experience with the chef clearly being busy and on the edge of walking out so the manager was very tentatively accepting food orders. In the end much to our surprise we were granted the privilege to order and from there the food was hot and tasty and the service was good. Onion rings had no flavour as is often the case with home made battered versions, my preference is the breaded option. Nice locals atmosphere and well kept ales - I'd recommend the Sussex Best
