A proper local pub……oh how we should treasure these. The local (Anstruther) ale was spot on, only matched by the friendly locals. Will be back……soon……and possibly for food as that looks great as well. Very dog friendly 🐶👌
What a little gem in Pittenweem, sadly we only discovered this at the end of our holiday. Don’t be fooled by what looks like a little local bar, we were warmly welcomed through the bar to another room with the atmosphere of an intimate French Bistro restaurant, tastefully decorated and lit by candlelight. A menu with something for everyone and produce from the locality, everything was cooked very well and it was delicious, the home made treacle soda bread and focaccia was superb, the steak frites cooked to perfection and let’s not mention the sticky toffee pudding, we succumbed and were not disappointed. Thank you to the hosts who welcomed us in and we enjoyed a pre dinner drink in the bar with the friendly regulars. Would definitely eat here again, would advise booking in advance.
The West End Bar was the most welcomed respite from a hot day in Pittenweem. It's a few blocks away from the seaside but offers a calm and quaint pub atmosphere. I wish we had asked the name of the manager, but she took the time to tell us about the French wine nights and the way she lit up speaking of it was really lovely. She is clearly passionate about good drinks and good food. Very hospitable. And the food! Absolutely delicious. Fresh treacle soda bread and focaccia with rosemary olive oil and balsamic vinegar, Scottish cheddar (like a hard mozzarella with an old cheddar taste) with fig jam and stone baked crackers, a chorizo quesadilla, and a goat cheese salad with walnuts, plus a nice red wine... A feast! Cannot recommend the West End Bar enough!
Loved it loved it loved it. Sorry it's not more explicit but we did really love our meal here. Exceeded our expectations and the wine was superb.
Actually a decent pub, made good gin and tonics and we watched the rugby six nations. I’ve marked down as it was a cold March day and there was no heating on even though it was busy. Sitting with jackets and scarves on is not the cosy Scottish pub vibe we were hoping for. They do have an outdoor area so may be better in summer. It’s in beautiful Pittenweem so we had walked the stunning coastal path, and it’s right next to the bus stop so handy for getting back.
