Okay, the Sunday Lunch review: The food is absolutely stunning, there is no denying it. Quality cuts of butchers meat, delicious roasted vegetables, perfect Yorkshire puddings. The ideal viscosity of gravy, with more provided when asked. You’re paying £16 - £18.50 for a roast. It’s pretty standard if you don’t want the average crap you could easily make at home. This is a cut above your usual roast that’s for sure and the quality of the meat is worth it. OKAY! Why 4 stars? Because they ran out of chicken and beef before we even ordered at 2pm!! Please sort this out! I saw another review mention this and thought surely they wouldn’t let that happen again. Chicken and Beef!! Literally the 2 biggest players in the roast dinner game. We were a table of 11 and they smashed it with the service. 2 younger girls I wish I got their names to mention them but they did really well (we were in Sunday 21st at 1:30pm so whoever was working then that fits the description lol) give them extra tips!! Dessert was delicious but again they’d ran out of crème brûlée. Increase your preparations to increase customer satisfaction 📈 You’ve definitely earned repeat customers - just make sure you have beef next time - you upset half of our table with that one! 🥩🚫☹️

I remember driving into Sheffield for years and years thinking how nice this pub looked as I drove past and one day I'd like to visit it. Well after about 30 years that day finally came on my birthday this year. We were in the area and thought what the hell and went to the Waggon. It's a lovely pub inside and out, really nice layout, great ales to choose from. Left the bar, went around the corner and there's a roaring log fire. Bonus! And the staff actually tended to it. And just when I thought it couldn't get better, we chose to eat bar snacks. Talloy chips, pork jowls and Henderson's onion rings. Oh my god they were so good, really filling and incredible value for money. It's a great bar and I cannot wait to go back again.

Great menu ideas with poor execution. On the two times I've visited the food has never been as good as it sounds, or as the high price would suggest. Lovely atmosphere inside most of the time, but for the price I would expect quicker service (not a 1 hour wait between courses like I had last time) with well-seasoned and fairly portioned food (the tiniest bit of gravy on the pie, a stingy scoop of ice cream with the brownie). It's really disappointing, the ideas and the atmosphere are there but the service and food are both unsatisfactory.

Really disappointing experience yesterday unfortunately. Entered the pub from the car park and sat down at one of the many empty tables on the road side of lower level, to be quickly ‘told off’ and sent to the check in point. Then we got sat in the far corner at a very small table despite lots of tables being free in the main and area. We ordered dinner and drinks which was fine. Our Sunday lunches arrived very quickly before the kids burgers, which we had to wait c5 minutes for. And drinks arrived after all dinners which was a shame. Quality of the food was ok, except spare Yorkshire puddings we’d ordered for the kids were COLD and very oily. The biggest disappointment was the kids burgers though, which turned up and were TINY. The burgers were no more than 6/7cm in width and the bread bun had been cut into quarters (two of the sides of the bun had been straight cut with a knife). We checked with the lady who’d served us (who was excellent) if those sizes were normal - she checked and apparently they were. I’d hope that we weren’t mislead, but if the portion size for kids burgers is as served, maybe a note on the menu stating toddler size might have stopped us ordering it for our 10 year old! Won’t be rushing back as felt massively underwhelmed by our visit.

We chose the Waggon and Horses as the venue for the wake following our dad's funeral. We really can't fault our experience. Ellen and the team were so accommodating, flexible and supportive right from the start. We had half the pub for our sole use, with our own toilets. The room and the toilets were clean and the room had a cosy feel yet easily accommodated a large number of guests. The cold buffet looked and tasted great. We were looked after really well at what was a very difficult time.
