Seasonality and local produce are at the heart of The Trooper. We go to great lengths to seek out and work with the best suppliers. Our wood fired oven has come directly from Italy to our kitchen to give you that authentic taste and our chefs have worked to create a pizza menu for you that's just a little bit special...
Our longhorn steaks are reared on Huntsham Farm in the beautiful Wye Valley. Huntsham Longhorn beef has been produced for over 200 years and is hung for a minimum 35 days. This ensures the fine grained, well marbled meat reaches its ideal maturity and full flavour potential.
Our chefs have tailored our menu to give you a great selection of different dishes. From succulent chargrilled steaks, market fresh fish and homemade burgers. We are also more than happy to cater for any special dietary requirements at The Trooper.
Join us for a drink in the bar. Choose from our great selection of ales, carefully selected wines and spirits and take a seat in the warm surroundings next to our open fireplace.

Had a bottomless lunch here yesterday with 5 friends. The service, atmosphere, cocktails & most importantly the food, were 10/10. We had a great few hours here …. Sarah looked after us so well & even sang happy birthday to me ❤️ I love the trooper , Iv visited lots over the years , never been disappointed or had a bad meal. All the staff are polite and friendly too. 10/10 guys. Thank you x
Absolutely fantastic evening. The Sunday before Christmas and the team made sure we had a cracking night, despite me booking for 2 and needing 7 they were able to accommodate us. Food - excellent, good selection and great quality. Hats off to the chefs. Fish and chips were a highlight - you’ll definitely want to eat it all :-) Service - amazing. We didn’t want for anything. Really looked after us and were able to have a laugh and joke with them. Big shout out to Jay who was brilliant and Kirsty who was awesome. You guys made the night. Our first time here but will absolutely be making it a regular location. Much love x
This venue accommodated 17 of us within a 3 day notice (a prior venue had to close their business) so at last minute I spoke to Jack over at The Wine House in Lichfield and he said they could fit us in at The Trooper, I had heard good things but never been. I was so happy they could fit us in at last minute notice. We gave our pre-orders which really helped, the service was slick, friendly and so helpful, they let us split the orders on separate receipts so our party could pay for own meals. The food was delicious, everyone commented on how much they enjoyed their food. We personally want to go back again next month for a date night. Atmosphere was so cosy, liv burners were on, music was nice, just really lovely posh pub environment. Thank you for making our special occasion so much more special. Xxx
Visiting on a Monday afternoon for a relaxing family lunch was an absolute pleasure. Delicious starters, great choice of wine and beers and great main course dishes. As you walk through the main door you feel the warm welcome atmosphere. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There are plenty of choices and dish combinations. Flat iron steak was delicious, pizza was really good made and fish and chips plate was huge. Prices are also quite normal if you consider the food quality and the size of the dishes. Highly recommended 👌
