About us

The Hand & Spear is easily the most stylish and elegant pub in Weybridge

Soft lighting, comfy sofas, open fireplaces, luxurious décor and our new magnificently decorated Dining Room welcome you inside, whilst our al fresco secret back garden is just as impressive with a BBQ, its own Alfresco Bar and wooden decking with heated jumbrellas so you can enjoy it all year round.

The Hand & Spear offers so much to so many - a place where you can enjoy a quick business lunch; a few drinks after work with friends, a BBQ in the sun - when we get the sun that is; a delicious traditional Sunday Roast (make sure you book !!). We are also a great place to celebrate a wedding, anniversary or birthday.

The Hand & Spear hosted 50 people for our work festive lunch back in December 2023. Emily (our party coordinator) was incredibly responsive and helpful when organising the event; she was quick to respond to queries via email and over the phone making the whole pre-ordering process incredibly easy. The festive lunch menu had a good variety of food for vegetarians/vegans/meat eaters and the kitchen was willing to change meals to accommodate intolerances. On the day, we were shown to our private room which was beautifully decorated. Emily, Becks and Joe were cheerful and helpful to all the guests and put up with all the quirks of our group! Everyone had a brilliant time and was incredibly complimentary of the meal, service, staff and venue. We can't wait to book again for next year!

We came here to watch the rugby on Saturday to see the Ireland Vs New Zealand game. The outside TV's weren't working, which meant a lot of people came inside to watch it. Fortunately we had booked seating so had a good view, but we did have to share the space we had booked to allow other fans to watch. There was an event in the back room which meant music was playing, which made it a little harder to hear the commentary. The beer is good, I can't comment about the food though. Will certainly come again as it's right next to the station which helps.

I had not eaten at the Hand and Spear for a few years, having been unimpressed with their food in the past, but I was invited by some friends to go for their "Christmas Feast". Unfortunately, the standard of food has not improved. It's basic, bland and reminds me of a mass-produced school dinner. In addition, we tried to order cocktails before our meal, but were told that they, "didn't have the ingredients" for a couple of the drinks that we'd ordered. (There's a cocktail menu - how can you not have the ingredients for the drinks??!) It's such a shame, because the building itself is really interesting - lots of different areas to sit in and a bit of historical significance - and there is a lovely outdoor area, but it seems it is more a pub for drinkers than for people who want to have a decent gastro-pub style of meal. It's put me off eating there again.  I also visited the ladies toilets shortly before leaving and they were in a terrible state - dirty and with toilet paper all over the floor. They clearly hadn't been checked for a while. This is completely unlike other pubs and restaurants I have visited. Standards generally seem to be low. It's such a shame because with the right chef, staff and attitude the Hand and Spear could be something really special.

Charming boutique hotel and lovely pub in convenient location near the station. Stayed for a couple of nights and had dinner one night. Delicious food and lovely accommodation in a charming room. Staff were very welcoming and everyone went the extra mile to make sure our stay was perfect - very much appreciated. The pub was really busy on both days and had a great atmosphere - clearly popular with the locals too! Would definitely recommend and return if the occasion arises.

Watched the rugby here yesterday whilst having a delicious Sunday roast. Lovely country pub with great service and tasty food. We were given a table with a perfect view of the TV to watch the game. Happy customers!
