Went for morning coffee and cake, beautiful setting, excellent cake, "perfectly ok" coffee, friendly staff. They seem to do an excellent breakfast too, though I didn't try it myself. Judging by the size of other customers, it is clearly regularly enjoyed 😂
Nice setting, good to get drinks from bar to have with food from 'The Little Barn' next door. Would liked to have spent a bit more time looking around the memorabilia etc, but was on a schedule.
Little Barn Cafe: First visit today. Fantastic coffee and walnut cake! Generous portion too. All the food looked of good quality and home cooked. Staff were all very friendly and very efficient. Think I might be going back there again 😀
I'm only an occasional visitor, and only to special events so cannot comment on every day experiences. Tonight was their annual blues festival night. Very enjoyable, with friendly helpful staff, OK Bands, great food and all at great prices. A very pleasant natured audience added to the overall experience. Hopefully next year will see the return of the combined beer festival. A great venue and one I can thoroughly recommend (I've been to other British Legion Clubs that fall well short of somewhere I could endorse !!) .
Husband and I went in for a drink on one of the hottest days of the year. First a regular shouted across the room at my husband about wearing his mask, which having just stepped out from the car and taken one step across the threshold, he'd neglected to put over his mouth. The same drinker then said "the cafe's closed" yes, we knew this - we wanted a cold drink. Then the landlady comes out and repeats the statement "the cafes closed you know" "yes we said, we know". "So what do you want then?" We were standing in a pub on a hot summers day - I would have thought it was obvious. But with the landlady glaring at us like we'd run over her cat and feeling unsure of ourselves already (having never been to a British Legion pub before), we turned and scuttled out to the sounds of laughter. One of the unfriendliest places we've ever visited.
