Best place in Camberwell for a Roast. The vegetarian wellington tastes really nice and the vegetarian gravy is top. The sticky toffee pudding is unbelievably good, the best I’ve had anywhere. The service is excellent too, particularly in the restaurant bit. I made a last minute reservation to come for lunch today and the place was packed so we were sat at the last free table with high bar seating at the front. One of the staff spotted that my mom was struggling with the high seating as she has MS and she came over and told us she was going to sort it out and find us somewhere more appropriate. She conjured up a free table within a minute despite everywhere looking full and moved us without fuss. I always bring friends and family here when they want to go somewhere local. It can be noisy in the front section but if you can get a table in the back, it’s the best of all the pubs in Camberwell and Peckham for a properly good roast.

Really lovely pub. Yummy food. I had the steak which I usually avoid in pubs but it was so good. Dessert wasn't bad either (crumble and custard) Nice spacious but homely vibe.

Love it . First time here after passing by many years and so glad . Fresh tartar sauce was a super with the fish and chunky chips.

Decent Camberwell pub. 3 cask beers on handpump when I last visited. Lots of outdoor seating at the front and in the large garden to the rear, some of it covered. I haven't eaten here but the menu includes classic pub food like fish and chips, bangers and mash and burgers together with more interesting offerings including vegetarian and vegan options.

It's a bar right next to King's college hospital, so you can be sure to find a lot of NHS staff there, especially of Friday night. Order a table if you plan to go with the group. The atmosphere is nice, although it was busy, I was served quite quickly, which is always nic. The pub has a nice garden at the back.

Food & drink

All the food we serve is fresh and wholesome and either made here or by people we know and trust who are mostly local, like the Franconian Sausage Company, based in Borough, set up and run by Jean-Paul Huberman who, we think, does the best sausages and burgers (to our specification) on earth. He's also a great drinker.

Culinary influences range from the most traditional of British home cooking through to taking inspiration from the countries of origins of our team, from north Africa to India to Eastern and Northern Europe. Dishes from Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall to Jamie Oliver, Nigel Slater, Nigella Lawson, Elizabeth David, Madhur Jaffrey, Ottolenghi and Claudia Roden have crept into our menus over the years.
