About us

Following extensive refurbishment and landscaping The Turks Head reopened in November. We serve real ales, fantastic wines and above all delicious food. We are incredibly proud of the warm reception we have received from our customers.

We use the finest local ingredients to create menus offering beautifully executed seasonal dishes. Our bar offers a range of ever changing local cask beers. With the abundance of fabulous, innovative local breweries in East Anglia we are sure there will always be something to tempt you.

We have an extensive wine list, from our wonderful house Merlot to a fabulous Margaux and many are available by the glass.

We welcome dogs in the bar and the snug and they can often be found curled up in front of one of our log fires, after a long walk in the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

We look forward to offering you a warm welcome at The Turks Head.

Lovely pub - log fires and well decorated for Christmas. Good service. Chicken supreme was disappointing as just a slice of fairly dry chicken with some very tough kale. Coffee was not hot enough. Other food was ok.

I'm so disappointed. This was a special occasion, where some parties had travelled miles, stayed overnight locally, and had paid for a taxi to travel to the pub. It had, up until now, had a good reputation for food. It was very poor on Saturday. The main concern was that the dish I ordered did not come as described. When I queried this, I was told that I had been informed (upon entry) that there were no steaks and there was a new chef. I'd ordered sausage and mash! So, on the menu, the description was special sausages, creamy mash, red wine jus, roast sage, buttered leeks, cabbage, and crackling. I was sold. I love crackling. I had asked if the crackling would be crispy. I was told it would be. What arrived was sausages, mash, gravy, and kale. Not the same at all. There were other issues. However, the staff did try to make it up after I stated that I didn't want the dish I was served. I ended up not eating a main, as by the time I was asked what else I'd like, the others in the party had finished eating. The pub has apparently changed ownership or management. The chain are going to lose out, if it is not rectified quickly. It was an expensive day out, for a very poor meal and experience.

A very nice gastro pub situated in the beautiful town of Woodbridge. Stunning walks and rustic aesthetic, this small town is well worth a visit. The Turks Head was a great place to stop for dinner with beautiful surroundings and clean, modern interior. It was a homely environment with a relaxing atmosphere. Service was slow to start but acceptable towards the end, with a great addition of the service team singing happy birthday to us as the desert came with a candle and a free glass of sparkling wine for the birthday boy. A beautiful touch that made our evening all the more special. The menu was superb. Small yet diverse, utilising locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The starter, chicken strips, had to be the best chicken dish I can recall having. The perfectly seasoned panné was phenomenal with so much flavour, and crispiness. The chicken was moist and delicious and the most delightful coleslaw you’ve ever tasted. The main, a burger, was a flavour masterpiece of amazingly seasoned, perfectly cooked steak haché. Bacon, onion jam and cheese complimented each other exquisitely alongside the amazing pickled slaw. Desert, even with the added birthday treat, was a master peace of culinary skills. A perfect, Tonka bean brûlée and delicious plumb crumble finished the meal with great finesse. This pub was unfortunately let down by it’s very poor wine list. This for me, however, wasn’t a problem as I was drinking beer. One of the best gastro pub meals I’ve had in a very long time. Chef Rob really knows his food and can deliver superb quality. I highly recommend you to try his food; you will not be disappointed.

Nice enough pub. Has an outdoor area. Ordered the special pie, chicken and chorizo. Good flavour. Home made chips and roasted carrots were also good.
