WELCOME TO THE SOLE BAY, SOUTHWOLD
Nestled in the corner of East Green overlooking the Adnams Brewery and Distillery is The Sole Bay pub.
This great little pub is the Adnams Brewery Tap in Southwold showcasing an array of cask beers and even more kegged and bottled beers. It serves a seaside-inspired menu with lots of local seafood, pub classics, and sandwiches. A daily specials board provides seasonal favourites, which are very much seafood-related and based on local availability.
We have a number of tables outside so you can enjoy this pretty location, or tables inside if you’d prefer to cosy up.
Children and well-behaved dogs are very welcome too.
This charming pub is tucked right underneath the iconic Southwold Lighthouse, and is also a brief stroll to the beach and the high street.
We look forward to welcoming you.
We’re open:
Mondays – Saturday 11am to close
Sundays – 12pm to close
Food is served daily:
12pm to 2.45pm.

The Sole Bay Inn has always been one of my favourite Suffolk pubs. I recently had lunch at the pub with my uncle, and having just discovered I have a gluten intolerance, I was pleased to find out it has a gluten free menu and Adnams Ease Up IPA (also GF) on tap. I resisted the gluten-free fish and chips and went for the seafood salad. It was nice but could have done with a little more seasoning and salad ‘components’ beyond a few leaves. Some of the fish was also on the chewy side. It’s nice to know I can still eat at the pub though.
Great pub in Southwold next to lighthouse. Great food and specials available. No bookings, just walk in. Great range of beers most brewed 50 meters away! Our children, 13, 11 and 9 loved the food too. Looking forward to returning, just myself and wife one day
Such a lovely little pub right next to the lighthouse. The food was absolutely delicious and we couldn't fault the service - definitely the best beef burger I've tasted in a long time!
The food blew us away! Our party had four different dishes between us, and we were all very happy. Wide range of Adnams beers (obviously). The staff were friendly.
Visited this pub on a Sunday afternoon. Initially it was quite busy, with only a couple of seats available, however it become quieter during the afternoon. Nice, relaxed vibe and dog friendly. Plenty of options on the menu and specials board. We went for the potted prawns and fish a chips - both were generous portions and very tasty. As expected, the local beer was very good. We would definitely visit again.
