Great well run pub, with surprisingly good prices, considering Snape is so popular? Snug and warm in winter and in summer you can sit outside and watch the world go by. Great location to visit while doing the beautiful Sailor's Path walk nearby!
I haven't actually been there yet. It has a great reputation and menu, it looks lovely and it's handy for Snape Maltings. I booked a few weeks ago for a pre-concert dinner, but felt I had been persuaded to do so against my better judgement and left too little time, so must now cancel. I will definitely try it when there's less pressure on time.
Sadly our stay was only for one night. The room was excellent; ample hot water, spacious and very warm. Probably built a few hundred years ago very characterful, not for persons over six ft tall! Beers in excellent condition. One of the best full English breakfasts I have had. Staff were all personable and welcoming. Went the extra mile to give us an early breakfast as we had to leave especially early. Highly recommended.
I had a great meal here during the August bank holiday. Many other pubs in the area were not offering meals on a Sunday evening but luckily for us The Golden Key was open and taking bookings. Double bonus was that the food we ate (plaice and cod) were delicious and fresh tasting and the service was friendly and efficient. It wasn’t my 1st choice but it could well be in the future. Thank you for a lovely evening!
Food was well presented and the chips were probably the best part. 👌 If we had have had our dogs, they would've been welcome which would've been a bonus. Staff were very friendly and polite. We didn't stay so can't comment on rooms etc. A great destination just to have food , and pretty central if you were staying, to be a short drive from some tourist attractions .
