The building dates back to the 18th century when Sproughton was a small hamlet, most of the few inhabitants making their living from the land. Although for most of its long history the building was divided into a number of farm cottages, rumour has it that may have actually started life as an inn.

Lovely food, if a bit pricey, short on staff, which led to disappointing service, maybe a one off. Lovely cosy place.
Beautiful pub, serving high end food but with that country feel you get from pubs. Cozy, warm buzz in the air and popular! Very accommodating. Lovely staff members. Was perfect for a large group on NYE but also a place I'll want to take my partner for romantic meal during the year.
Very nice meals (calamari, pie of the day and schnitzel) , nice cosy atmosphere and very attentive , polite service from Tab. Thank you, look forward to visiting again!
Tab was really amazing. Enjoyed her service and company. Loved the food. Had the king prawn linguine and stick chilli chicken. Tasty and cooked to perfection. Oh and I like the welcome message. Cute!
We are no stranger to this delightful venue but have not so far written a review. Easy to book a table on line. It's got a good size car park. Has the feeling of an old village pub with 2 open fires for the winter blasts and garden seating those sunny summer days. It's not too big a menu and all items quite reasonably priced. My pal ordered Haddock, chunky chips and mushy peas. I had the Hunters Chicken Escallope, chunky chips, green leaf decoration and a brown sauce. A good plate full of well cooked food and good service. What more can you ask for?

When the doors of the Duke of Marlborough in Somersham, Suffolk, closed on Christmas Eve 2014, it seemed the pub would be lost forever. However, three years and much campaigning later, it's back up and running with brand new owners - the community.
