About us

A wonderful 16th Century dwelling, built at the time of the Spanish Armada, it is a late example of a hall house. The bar is situated in what was the open hall. Whilst as a "Beer House" in the 19th Century, it acquired its name, The Star. A grade 2 listed building set in a conservation area, it is a fascinating building, with beautiful bressemer beams, carved oak beams and old English style.

A pub in the truest sense of the word. Great beer. Great service. Roaring fire.

This is a lovely little traditional pub, a free house that is around 500 years old. They have a great set of beers and the environment is very authentic. Alex is very nice. You have to hook the horn!! It's so funny!! Recommended to have a drink there if you are around!!

Thank you Alex, we had an amazing break from the city. We stayed in the “Outdoor Inns” pods and had outstanding food in “The Star” pub. We will recommend to friends and family and we will definitely come back. We did many walks around the village, and its only a 10 minute drive to Newmarket if you need to go to shops or high street bakery etc.

Very nice brunch, made with top products. Always enjoyed food at the star, and now the brunch on Saturdays! Perfect

REALLY great food, we ate juicy moules, best paprika chips and delicious vegetarian risotto. No space for a pud sadly. Kind staff - proper pub owned by villagers
