What a shame, Very Disappointing!! Visited here tonight with friends over from Sweden. Always been here in the past, to good food and atmosphere. Sadly this seems to have gone. Arrived tonight (Wednesday) to a very limited dinner menu, probably in all about 7 dishes? No options for vegans or children and two options offered for gluten free. Very poor. Service was very slow, pub was half busy. Chairs were uncomfortable. Staff a little rude. Went to the toilet, no hand wash, not refilled, which immediately put me off. I raised this with them. After the long wait for food, the chips described as Triple Cooked were NOT. They were standard frozen oven chips, all of which we left. Steak was rubbery in texture and overcooked. Atmosphere dull and a little miserable. Won’t be returning, a lot better places around, not worth the trip out.

A lovely lunch with friends in a beautiful location. The menu choice was varied and the food was delicious. All of the Staff were friendly and very welcoming and helpful. Background music, which was great as it was from ‘our era’, was at a perfect volume to allow conversation without having to shout therefore the restaurant had a nice ambiance. The plan was to do one of the walks from the Spread Eagle but weather put paid to that! I would highly recommend.
