A lovely hotel overlooking the quayside just 500 yards from the city centre which i must say was impeccable. On arrival the staff couldn't do enough to help check in, then once in to the room and it was immaculately clean and tidy and snuggly warm. We then went downstairs for a drink and the bar had a decent selection of everything on also a really nice food menu too. And the biggest plus of all, the breakfast is all you can eat and perfectly cooked, definitely in my top 5 breakfasts of all time.
Perfect positioned opposite the river and close to lots of pubs and restaurants. Walking distance to the cathedral and castle, which are a must. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. A variety of choices for breakfast and tasty. The staff were very friendly, we enjoyed our night stay.
We booked overnight dinner bed and breakfast. We went for our evening meal to find the restaurant cold and residents sat in overcoat’s. The meal came lukewarm after a thirty minute wait despite the restaurant being quiet. When we sent the meal back it came back slightly warmer. The coffee after the meal was weak but hot.
2nd stay here. 1st being following covid lockdown. Hotel has had a freshen up but nothing major. Rooms well appointed but have to say bed very uncomfortable and needs new mattress in room 304. Sides of mattress close to collapse springs sticking in your side whilst sleeping and a hump in the middle of the bed. Room was very clean and was refreshed on 2nd day also which was nice. Short stay therefore put up with bed but wouldnt consider return to this hotel as many others in nearby area to try. Barman cheerful and pleasant character.
Lovely site overlooking the marina .. with boats, swans and other swimming birds! Lots of places to eat on waterfront .. mainly chains with Spoons and other pubs plus one superb "homestyle" Chinese. Parking on site is good but access by car is confusing. Breakfast is in usual buffet style with good choices. Reception was efficient and friendly and our room was spacious and practical. We stayed an extra night .. so must be OK!
