About us

THE PLACE TO MEET YOUR FRIENDS

The Soup Kitchen, at the top of Church Lane overlooking St Mary’s Church, has been run by the Sandy family for over thirty years. We pride ourselves on our freshly cooked food and are so flattered that folk keep coming back time and time again to visit us. When the weather is fine our roof top garden is always popular and it’s a great place to relax and let life pass you by. We are open for breakfasts, morning coffees, lunches and afternoon teas. Everything is homemade and our team in the bake house work throughout the day turning out delicious pastries, cakes and other delicacies. We offer table and self-service.

The Soup Kitchen has justifiably picked up many an award and recommendation and attracts visitors from not only the county town but from all over the world many of whom have enthused about the food and our traditional service.

Our motto has always been ‘children welcome, grannies adored’ and Duncan and his enthusiastic and helpful staff look forward to seeing you very soon.

Festive lunch with my husband was a delight. Such a lovely cozy place to enjoy the day. Food was delicious. The staff so polite, and kind making you feel like the only ones there. So attentive to details, even remembering our names from previous visits. Well beyond 5 star service. Highly recommend a meal there. You will not be disappointed

Our first visit & we can see why they have so many great reviews. The service was excellent, attentive, friendly staff & they couldn't do enough for us. Our food was quick to arrive, well presented & tasted delicious. Definitely worth a visit when in Stafford.

So impressed with the soup kitchen. I treated my best friend for her birthday. I found this lovely place when I looked up places to eat in Stafford. Such friendly staff, very attentive and helped us choose from the vast menu! I loved that there are local delicacies on the menu such as oatcakes and rostis. I had the assam tea which was lovely. The rosti was delicious and my best friend had the pie and she loved it. I had carrot cake which was lovely but the bestie had biscoff cake which made me have food envy! We will be back. Definitely recommend.

We came to Stafford for a day trip. The local folks recommended Soup Kitchen and it was fair to say I was not disappointed. We were greeted with friendly and warm waiting staffs. The service is excellent, with friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff who are always happy to make recommendations and answer any questions. The restaurant's attention to detail is evident in all aspects of the dining experience, from the carefully crafted menu to the well-presented dishes. The atmosphere is lively, with a buzz of conversation and laughter filling the room. The restaurant is also well-maintained, with a clean and attractive dining area that adds to the overall experience.
