One of Cornwall's Oldest & Most Famous Inns.
We stayed for 3 nights. The staff were all wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us. Rooms on the small size but this is a very old building so expected. Rooms a little tired but spotlessly clean. Views of harbour beach fabulous. We ate at the Captains table , breakfast top marks, evening meal deal outstanding. Guys in the bar make you feel welcome and are just happy lovely chaps. So pleased that we have rebooked.
Lovely old pub in st Ives with accommodation. The rooms are named after nautical names. Stayed for 3 nights at Christmas food was good especially the buffet in the evening on Christmas day which was excellent. Only fly in the ointment was breakfast on boxing day the chef turned up but decided to go home (hung over I suspect) they managed to get another chef breakfast eventually turned up after a one and half hour wait.
Terrible experience with staff and customer. After entering and buying a drink and sitting down on new years eve, a customer used a homophobic slur toward me and said they wanted to kick my drink out of my hand, which they did. spilling most of it. In the moment I threw the rest of my drink on the customer in shock. A member of staff said we should leave because I'd thrown my drink. They didn't want to listen or care what the other customer had done and was being homophobic in their pub. Some other customers then pointed out to the staff that the violent customer had started on them earlier in the evening. Staff really didn't care and were really rude. Thankfully other customers were helpful and made us feel welcome.
Brilliant pub. Great location for the new year’s celebrations. Got the staffing spot on for the amount of people there. Well done 👏
Fairly decent seafood, not the best since we’ve been here but there’s a lot of competition! Couldn’t get a restaurant booking but there was plenty of space at the bar which catered to the same menu. Good came quickly. Was tasty but a shame the lobster was overdone on both our dishes. Good value for money too. Good selection of beers. Location on the bay so it’s very busy.
