Centrally located, walking distance from the station, bus stops and high street. Cozy rooms with very small bathroom. Service and food are very good.

We tried the Ship inn for lunch, after a wet shopping trip in the town. We were met with a very warm welcome by the staff and the huge open log fire. Food was fabulous, real ale was fantastic. We’ll be taking friends back in a couple of weeks. 10 out of 10 . Dates back to 1592 so fairly new for the old town. Wonderful inside.

Stayed here recently for a weekend and can honestly say it was the best stay I’ve had in a long time! The room was immaculate & the bed was beyond comfortable. Staff super friendly and the food was lovely in the restaurant. Will definitely be back for another great stay, thank you 😊

Just been to our "local" for a quick bite and a beer. Disappointed with the menu, it's really not for us - we couldn't find anything on it we'd like. Went for a burger with added coleslaw. The coleslaw was red and tasted of Vinegar. The burger was . . . not the best. Beer was pretty disappointing too with not much choice and I ended up with a pretty average glass of "Long Man". Service by Jodie was awesome as usual, only wish she could have offered us better fare. Maybe if they get a better menu and some decent beer - we'll go back

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed our stay. The pub has nicely appointed rooms and you can feel the history in the oak beamed bar. The bed was really comfy but the shower could do with a bit more oomph. Overall the food was good. The full English and the fish and chips were the highlights. Downside is there is no car park so you will have to use the pay car park close by or take your chances on the road outside.
