Christmas night out hosted by owner and team. Great fun, good food tho veggie option a bit limited generally. Owner's personality and hands on involvement takes it up a level...

Came locally for a work trip and stayed at The Selkirk for two nights, the room was nice and quiet but I have to be honest, the food is where it’s at! Had breakfast and dinner both days which were lovely, the first time I had haggis too which I enjoyed. Would happily come back. Thank you

We decided to break our journey home and booked a room more or less on the spur of the moment, and were so glad we had. This is a fabulous hotel - clean and comfortable, traditional but not old fashioned, with friendly attentive service which is not at all intrusive. We had a lovely evening meal and a very nice breakfast. If only it could be moved just as it is 200 miles or so south, so we could stay there regularly!

One of the nicest meals I've had for a while. We were greeted by a slightly stressed member of staff, but after that the service was very good and friendly. The food was very good, the puddings particularly!

Our room was nice and clean, albeit rather small. We also found that the sound from outside our room carried somewhat, but I suppose that’s to be expected given the age of the building. The restaurant offers a couple of vegan options for dinner, which were very nice. Word of warning, if you’re staying there’s nothing on the breakfast menu that’s vegan, other than porridge made with water which you’ll have to ask for. We did a Google search to see if the Flora spread pots on the table were vegan, and they are, so you can have some toast too. If you’re somewhat confused as to why this is a 4 star review, don’t be - we found the staff to be fantastic. Extremely helpful, polite, respectful and welcoming.
