Had a table for four tonight at 8.15pm food was lovely. Asked for dessert menu to be told kitchen was shut! When questioned this was told it was a pub not a restaurant!!! Spent £100 and was smirked at when challenged their policy. Used to go loads of times and never had a bad experience. Since new owners came won't be back till they gone.
New owners have lot to learn and they should learn quickly. We went there and had four meals none were good. Cold plates and my meal was cold half way through. Coffee was only just drinkable my sister ordered coffee and got soft drink? That was probably the best part about the whole mess. Then we had not finished and they came round getting plates. Will we go again? Not till they gave gone. All in all the worst four meals we have ever had....quite some record as I eat out three to four times a week.
Disappointing. Had a lovely main and then were asked if we wanted desserts only to be told the kitchen was shut at 7.55pm on a Saturday because a small party had arrived. Why were we not told either on booking or on arrival that we had an hour before the kitchen shut? Or did you wait until we had finished our mains to avoid the risk of a table walking out after being told you wouldn't accommodate a full meal? Would have bought this up with the manager at the time but he was already running around with plates saying the chefs were shouting at him... Usually love this place but a very disappointing way to end.
Absolutely appalling. My family and I went to celebrate my birthday and it was a disaster. There was only one poor young chap serving at the bar and the restaurant who was trying his best. We waited ages to be seated and served and when we finally ordered some of the food was not available. Then after ordering we were aware of other customers sending food back and leaving. Another customer then came to inform us the card machine wasn't working, which we should've been informed of before ordering. So as none of us had a great amount of cash on us and we'd already been there an hour with no food, we left. The manager didn't want to speak to anyone and hid upstairs. The place was empty from people leaving by the time we went! Terrible way to run a business and manage staff. Disgraceful.
Found this pub whilst driving up the m1, looking for a non service station lunch. Pub was nice, clean and tidy. Log fire was roaring as it was cold outside. Staff very attentive, served lunch quickly with nice tasty food. Only giving 3 stars as no baby changing facilities so had to change nappy on the toilet floor.
