About us

Built in 1664, the Salutation Inn is a traditional 17th century former coaching inn, set in the quiet Lake District village of Threlkeld.

With stunning panoramic views up to Blencathra and towards the Helvellyn Range, this is a wonderful place to spend some time. Situated in the North Lakes, just 4 miles from the bustling market town of Keswick, the Salutation Inn is the perfect base for exploring all areas of the Lake District National Park.

Chill out with a quiet pint by the roaring fire in our cosy bar or in warmer months, outside in our beer garden with beautiful mountain views in all directions. Try out our excellent bar food from an extensive menu or maybe stay a while longer in one of our recently refurbished bed & breakfast (B&B) en-suite guest rooms.

From golf to rugby and tennis to football, when it’s time to watch the big game, our wide screen TV is ideally positioned to give a great view. And our traditional darts board and pool table are always available to let you create your own world cup atmosphere! We have an excellent selection of wines from around the World to accompany your food. If you enjoy a pint of cask ale, you’ll be spoilt for choice with our impressive collection. We offer a variety of ales from several well respected local and regional breweries, including Theakstons, Robinsons and Caledonian, and always have at least one guest ale of offer. We also offer Fosters lager, Theakstons Mild, Youngers Scotch Bitter & Kronenbourg 1664 on draught.

No atmosphere - no welcome - two staff busy talking - no bar type snacks/sandwiches/toastie etc for walkers. Had pizza which was ok. Advised to come from Horse and Farrier - wont do again, better to sit outside at H&F, more atmosphere.

Nice friendly pub with excellent food. The menu was quite small but the quality of food that they make is of high quality from a pub meals point of view.

The food here was incredible! The pizza was really delicious, and the special dessert they had that day - pistachio and olive cake with ice cream - was absolutely stunning. Highly recommend. The atmosphere was also really nice and laid back and we really enjoyed our time here

Terrific pub, serving Stowford Press (so much better than Somersby). Friendly staff, very dog friendly. The views from the spacious garden are stunning! More down to earth than the Horse & Farrier up the road, and lovely decor inside, recently refurbished.

Best pizza in the lakes. Not sure why this place is so much quieter than it’s sister pub (horse and farrier) it’s every bit as nice and the staff are very welcoming. It’s not obvious from the front but it has a great garden out the back with plenty of tables and IMO it’s a better stop when coming off the hills.
