Lovely welcome from all the staff on reception. Easy to park. Room very clean and fresh. Good location for Cambridge with only a short drive to the P&R. Costa is on the same site.

WE WERE CHARGED TWICE - Never Again Premier Inn We stayed here on 7th January in room 204. We pre booked on line and upon arrival the receptionist insisted that we paid again as the first payment wouldn't actually be taken. However both payments went through so we paid twice for the same night. I explained the following morning and the lad on the reception promised the refund would be made but nothing was refunded, I rang a week later and again I was promised a refund and again nothing so I rang a third time but this time the lady said they could not do that from there and that I would need to write in to Premier Inn so I followed her advice and had no reply. I again rang head office on 1st Feb 23 (now 3 weeks later) and spoke to someone called Alicia who was very awkward with me and refused to refund any money as she said they had not received any money from the online transaction even though it has been taken from our account. I asked what about a refund under a good nights sleep guarantee promise (as the experience certainly affected my sleep worrying I had been charged twice) but she said no nothing she can do. I said thanks for being so unhelpful and her reply "you're welcome". I had previously stayed at premier inn many ocassions but that was most certainly my last time ever.

Nice, quiet room. Saffron Walden centre not really walkable but relatively close. Breakfast in the on-site Beefeater not as good as other Premier Inns I have stayed in.

The hotel was very full so we got a accessible room so i assume that effects it, but I don’t believe that’s a reason for cold showers + terrible water pressure in the shower. The fan in our room didn’t seem to work, and when we got back there was always a weird smell and the room had barely any fresh air. We purchased breakfast at the beefeater attached and the bread had mold on it, We ate the pieces next to it thinking it was just a fluke and the rest would be okay but got very sick. I emailed them the day of and still have not heard back (over a week ago). 2 nights there was yelling outside and some sort of banging on the walls, not sure what it was but the area isn’t one I felt safe going outside alone at night. Staff were super lovely and it was nice having an aldi so close.

Pretty poor experience overall, I have stayed at most of the chain hotels in the area (down here a lot with work) and this has been the worst, bar the Red Lion in Duxford. They've clearly tried to cut costs, as your room doesn't get cleaned by default, you have specifically request it every day if you want it done at reception. This can be a bit of a pain if you need to get out as there is frequently nobody at the desk in the morning. I asked for my room to be cleaned twice during my stay, and one of those times they forgot and didn't bother cleaning it. Very frustrating to get back and it hadn't been done, especially when every other hotel I've stayed at does it every day without request. Only one set of towels was provided (two were provided everywhere else I've stayed) and again you have to request to get them changed. Internet speed is also terrible, I was getting around 150 kB/s download speed, which means there is no chance of getting any work done in the hotel room, or streaming anything. They offer "up to 8x faster internet" for a fiver a night, but if that's only going to be around 1 MB/s download it's not worth much either. Water pressure on the tap was awful, and unusable. Shower was passable but again nowhere near as good pressure as most other places I've stayed. The bed was really comfy and the air conditioning in the room was good, but those are about the only plus points for me. Overall didn't enjoy my stay here, will go back to the Holiday Inn Express in Cambridge next time as that has been the best experience so far (and the location is also better).
