This comfortable friendly pub full of rustic atmosphere and charm nestles within the ancient village of Kirtling in west Suffolk.
We’re Hazel and Steve and we’d love to welcome you to the Kirtling Red Lion. For hundreds of years the Red Lion has greeted locals and passing travellers with warmth, fine ales and excellent home-cooked meals and we are continuing with that tradition.
In the summer you can relax outside in our beer garden, enjoying beautiful views of the Suffolk countryside and watch our friendly chickens scratching around the vegetable gardens, while your children can have fun in the play area. If its cold outside, then the warmth of our roaring fire will entice you inside to enjoy one of our delicious home made pies, fabulous fresh fish on Friday's or one of our mouth watering Sunday Lunches. All our food is home cooked from scratch, and is locally sourced, either from our own garden or local growers in the surrounding areas. We have our own home grown pork and home grown sausages on the menu, come and try some before they all run out|| We have our own chickens which produce all the eggs we need to go with our delicious home grown and home cooked ham. The rest of the eggs go into our delicious home cooked puddings.
We have a games room which has a Bar Billiards table, Canadian Shuffle Board and lots of board games, books and colouring stuff for the kids to enjoy and keep them busy. Our in-house mascott 'Lionel' will be here to welcome the children, and there are lots of picturs of him to colour in too.
We serve excellent well kept Real Ales such as Admans, Woodfordes Wherry, Guest Ales, Guinness and an excellent wine list. There are plenty of soft drinks and snacks too.

Great pub! Host very welcoming for our large group. Pints only £5. Selection of lunch options jacket potatoes/ omelette/ burgers. Guinness was spot on. Thank you!!
Lovely friendly pub, we were welcomed like old friends and had a great afternoon in the sunny beer garden. Food truck on site for noodles and dumplings, good selection of beers. We’ll be back!
Enjoyed a couple of pints and a ploughman's. Well kept beer, great food and very efficient pleasant staff. Lovely walk from Great Bradley so, all in all, a most pleasant Saturday. Sat outside with dogs but were welcome to go inside.
We have always eaten here, especially the theme nights and always found the food excellent. This Christmas menu and wonderful welcome from Sue and John has been the best in these troubled times, you must try it and enjoy.

Our food is locally sourced and all home cooked from scratch,
Our menu varies daily, with fresh fish on Friday's freshly battered Cod & chips with pureed peas £7.95, mouth watering steaks from £14.95, home made burgers £8.95, hearty winter soups with home-made soda bread £4.50, delicious Sunday Lunches £8.50 and our fabulous home made puddings all £3.95 and served with crean or ice-cream.
Our menus are small to enable us to use the freshest ingredients available to us.
There is something for everyone here at The Red Lion, and if it is not on the menu ask our staff and if we have it in the fridge or garden, we will gladly knock up it up for you!!
