Lovely local. Food interesting and tasty, good portion sizes and plenty of choice. We are very lucky to have such a great pub in our village.
Work Christmas lunch and the majority disappointed with the food. The festive turkey dinner was ok but portions small compared to what we’ve had at other local pub restaurants. The pork belly was very dry and the vegetarian wellington swimming in a tomato sauce. Not enough veg for nine people although they had set our table for 7 people so that may be why. Had to ask for the extra such as cranberry sauce. The chocolate pudding was far too rich and needed ice cream. Ended up 3 people sharing it. Issued paying the deposit as called twice and no one knew how to take a payment. On the day the balance was much higher than it should have been do I had to worry the bill. The log for is beautiful and provides a cozy atmosphere and the staff are friendly. Sadly, for us it was the food that was disappointing.
We recently moved to the village and to have the Red Lion here is amazing. We came for the village but will stay for the pub! Food is gorgeous, great selection of drinks and snacks, my wife has an unusual drink and they make sure they have stock of the bits needed to make it! We also recently lost an expensive pair of sunglasses and weren't sure where, we'd asked around the village and no one had seen them, then the following week the landlady saw us walking past and had them ready in an envelope for us! Such honest, friendly and welcoming people and the pub is well run and I would highly recommend.
Oh my goodness where do I start?! What an absolute gem. Lovely atmosphere, every member of staff were polite, helpful and friendly. We had never been before but we will definitely be back. The Sunday lunch was delicious, with great choices, hot, fresh and everything was such good quality. Throughly enjoyed it thank you
The suet steak and ale pudding is legendary. My mum and I have come every Christmas eve for around 4-5 years.
