The Red Kite has a new look with new dining areas, new kitchen, coffee service and refurbished rest rooms. All meals are made using fresh, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. And, with the exception of our bread and ice-cream, everything from the chips to the sauces, are made from scratch on the premises.
Outside the pub there is a large car park area, planting and garden furniture to entice walkers on the Derwent Walk and dogs are very welcome.

Lovely Sunday lunch, one of the nicest I've had in a pub, nice drinks too. Will be back.

My partner and I had the most amazing chicken and mushroom pie with seasonal vegetables and a lovely rich gravy. Traditional suet pie was yummy. For dessert my partner had the homemade sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and ice cream. It was devine! The staff were friendly and attentive. Really enjoying having our lovely local pub back, doing what it does best…..good quality food with friendly helpful staff. Thank you
Went for lunch and got some great sandwiches! Staff were really kind and the atmosphere was chilled. Lots of toys in the corner for kids to play with. The food took a second to come out, but was worth it.
Located in the beautiful surroundings of Derwent Valley and River. We made a booking 1 week before we went for lunch at the Red Kite. When we got there, no one had even seen the booking and it was a warm day on a bank holiday Monday, so it was very busy outside. Due to the fact there was already a delay on drop in orders, we did have to wait a considerable length of time to get our food. The food was standard pub grub, so it was ok but quite honestly, from my sister’s previous experience, it didn’t live up to the hype she had created for me. We later discovered they were quite short staffed so it is no reflection on the girl who was trying to serve us and manage the bar. And in fairness, the Manageress did take 25% off our bill for the inconvenience but I can’t say it’s left a memorable experience or the desire to rush back. Perhaps given different circumstances, it could have been a much better experience.
