Where do I start. Booked in and arrive and stood at the wait here sign. watch people going to bar to order food and drink so wondered if we should just seat ourself. As we waited watched chef at a til point with manky black chefs jacket which was worrying. If you cant keep yourself clean wear an apron or change jacket when going front of house. Eventually barman shouted over he would get us soon but then waitress arrived and showed us to seats. This is were alarm bells started as we got to table she stepped over chips on the floor by our table then watch as we had to do same. Table sticky and wet and the menus were filthy. Went to bar waited to be served and chap behind bar was pleasant and polite, however didn't know about birthday free cake promotion, surely staff should be briefed. Got drink but mine had to be returned as there was things floating in it with ice. Food arrived very quickly, the eggs on gammon steak were solid as if been sitting under heat lamp., peas microwave to death and mushy peas on fish was a solid lump of peas. Chips over cooked in dirty oil with black bits on them. At least brakes onion rings were ok. Best thing was carrot cake we left with. On place felt unloved and needing a good scrub. Maybe it's partly my fault after looking at website and hearing about cake my expectations were too high. First time ever eating without leaving a tip. Pity
Went with a group of about 12 of us for breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful sorting out a table so we all could sit together. The buffet breakfast that some of the group had looked very tasty and they had a good variety to choose from, appeared to be good value, especially with the refill drinks. I myself ordered off the menu and was a little disappointed as I had the avocado on toast with poached eggs. The poached eggs were perfect, but there was hardly any avocado and it looked like something that had been squeezed out of a bottle and very thinly spread over the toast, certainly nothing like the picture on the menu!!! Think next time I'd just have the buffet breakfast as this seemed much more appealing , better value and they appear to cater more for this than cooking individual dishes off the menu!
Very good place for family meals. Soft play area is a great hit with my grandson, and the staff are very helpful, and watch out for all those toddlers. There is lots of seating here and the carvery is always very popular. Great barman on my last visit! 👏
A bit of confusion on the door as there were many people coming in at once. Unfortunately the app wasn't working properly today so we got a bit of a delay on the sweeties. But the waiter got it sorted in no time. Good value for money.
We didn't book ahead and the girl managed to get us a seat. It was busy so I'd recommend booking ahead. Food was really fresh and tasty carvery was spot on and the chef was really friendly. For those who have kids, I only found out this time that they have a play area for the kids. I am currently working away at the gym, so this was my cheat meal, the cakes and sundaes looked unreal and managed to do well to avoid them however will be back at some point to tackle one of those. 🍰🍨
