About us

Entering the pub brings you to a lobby, on the left is the 'Tap Room' and on the right the 'Bar Parlour', both with beautiful etched glass signs on their doors. Both these rooms have traditional fixed seating and bell-pushes. Continuing ahead takes you to the bar ahead and curving to your right, with more fixed seating around it.

To the rear the pub has been expanded from it's original layout, but retains the historic feel. Exiting the bar to the rear and right takes you to a room that was originally the domestic kitchen of the original pub. The Vault is home to a large screen for TV sports. Behind the Vault is an eating area with an outside patio (complete with red telephone box & Victorian lamp post) being available for drinkers & smokers (although smokers often use the benches to the front of the pub).

Two real ales are served, Holts Bitter & Holts Mild, although the pub itself is a freehouse.

The car park surrounding the pub is part of the retail complex and does not belong to the pub. If driving, beware that the car park will be locked when the retail park closes (between 8 & 9pm).

Wheelchair access is possible through the front door where there is no step. There is a step at the back door. There is no toilet for wheelchair users.

Not been here for years, was expecting a sticky carpet, dingy dark interior but no... as we entered we were greeted by a lovely smiley bar lady and the interior although mostly grey was tasteful and relaxing. We were told the fire had been lit in one of the comfortable front rooms. We went and sat in the other front room to avoid disturbing the gentleman who was in the fire room. I had a non alco San Miguel and my wife had a glass of wine. Hope the pub gets more clientele later on as it deserves to be populated and with so many nooks and crannies I can imagine it would create a nice atmosphere.

Nice pub, screens in everyroom so great for football and sport. They have done a good job of the refurbishment. Proper pub! Staff are friendly. Live music. Quiz on Thursday's (we'll be back for that) One thing though... the dartboard has gone from the games room. It's perfect for darts as well. The carpet acting as an oche is still there. I'll give it 5 star if the dartboard comes back 😀 Edit, dartboard is back with ring lighting. Extra star added👍.
