About us

The Queen’s Head is Northumberland's oldest coaching inn. It's an attractive, stone built village pub, with open inglenook fires and beamed ceiling.

Prior to reopening in June 2022, we've have given the pub a light facelift to give it a light airy feel with a modern twist, while maintaining the traditional atmosphere.

We offer tasty snacks and meals in the bar, the spacious restaurant and the beautiful garden. We are proud to offer craft produce, including guest ales from both big and small names such as: the Born Brewery, Hexhamshire Brewery and Timothy Taylor's.

We have plentiful parking with additional, free, on road parking. We welcome everyone, including walkers enjoying the Hadrian’s Wall path or St Oswald’s Way, and cyclists making the most of the peaceful local roads.

We are a dog friendly pub with water bowls and treats availably over the bar.

Dined at this pub on several occasions and every time, I have been blown away by the warmth of the hospitality and the high standard of the food. This is a country pub with a delightful twist. Staff are warm, friendly and welcoming. I'm a veggie and their vegetarian options are fantastic. This pub has something for everyone. Definitely worth a drive to visit!

We contacted the queens head late on a busy Sunday afternoon after travelling from Staffordshire. They managed to fit us in & on arrival we were greeted with a warm friendly welcome. Lovely cozy atmosphere, immediately felt at ease. I think they stop serving food at 4 and as it was 3.30ish they had run out of a few meats for Sunday lunch (a good sign we thought) as It was busy and other diners were all enjoying a variety of meals and desserts. My husband and I both opted for chicken, it was cooked perfectly and piping hot. It came with all the trimmings & a special mention to the home made roast potatoes & Yorkshire puddings, they were delicious! We always try and visit whenever we are in the area and over the years have seen it struggle and even close at one point, but so good to see the owners have brought some life back in to the place and seem to have it just right. I would definitely recommend a visit. Thank you for a most enjoyable afternoon and look forward to seeing you the next time we are in the area

Starters were superb, the steak was the best steak I've had anywhere, cooked perfectly and the chips were sooooo good too. Cosy friendly atmosphere and dog friendly. Will be back.

Such a disappointment. We had travelled far to meet with family located nearby and had been looking forward to our lunch. Sadly we had to wait ONE hour for our meals to arrive and once our roasts did arrive they looked delicious, however they were all cold. The beef was not well done as asked, the pork belly was undercooked and the lamb was pitiful. Incidentally the pie was fabulous. Of note, the other diners appeared to wait an age for their food also, and it was difficult to ignore discreet complaints from other diners in the room who had also received cold unsatisfactory food today. Lengthy delays for cold sub standard food = we will NOT return, regardless of how “busy” you were, this was beyond acceptable.
