The Poachers Inn is a delightful village inn, on the outskirts of sunny Exeter. The pub has a great reputation for superb food, all prepared and cooked on the premises and using, wherever possible, local ingredients.
The venison is from Haldon, and all other meats are sourced locally. There is a separate dining room for more intimate entertaining and reservations are advisable.
Beer has been a hobby of Tony the landlord for many a year, and he has an extraordinary knowledge of the subject. Branscombe Branoc is always available on the bar with 5 other real ales available, mainly from Devon, Cornwall, Dorset or Somerset.
There are more than 20 wines available, too many whiskies to mention and Tony’s favourite Armagnac where the bottle is nearly always empty. We also have our own gin and tonic menu which is definately worth a look at. The Poachers Inn also boasts three sumptuous letting rooms, one with a four poster bed, available for 1 night or longer stays.
The garden looks out onto the Devon hills and is a great place to sit in the sun and get down to nature. During the summer the barbecue is open for private parties or for hire to cook yourself.

Really good local Pub. Warm. Excellent food and very good price, with huge portions. We'll be back
Lovely old village pub with excellent ales and as chance would have it a mere stagger to my brother's new house, only a fleeting visit for me but it was easy to imagine long winter nights with a pint of ale in front of the log burner......
Lovely Sunday afternoon in the pub. Food was good quality, and very generous portions. Had the roast lamb and a cheese and ham ploughmans. Excellent range of real ales from Exeter Brewery, Salcome and Branscombe. Brilliant pub dogs too. Well worth a visit to this cosy, welcoming village inn.
This is a proper pub, specialising in local beer (very well kept) and proper homemade un flashy food. Had a really excellent oxtail stew and pint of eddystone. Lovely!
Had a wonderful birthday meal with my girls on Sunday. Lovely greeting from everyone there especially the dogs. I adore them all. The food was fab as usual and it is so good to be able to relax and not be rushed. Welcome fire to enjoy and good ale. Quantities of the meal nearly beat me again !!! One thing you can be sure of is value and enjoyment for your money and leaving FULL !! Tank you all. Oh and the gravy was exceptional !!!! xx
