A seaside hotel, bar and restaurant with stunning views across New Quay Bay
The Penwig’s seafront location in the small village of New Quay provides superb views across the bay, where dolphins can occasionally be seen jumping and playing.
Perched on the hills above Cardigan Bay, New Quay is famous for its picture-book harbour, beaches and narrow terraced streets. The sheltered harbour and safe beaches are perfect for sailing, fishing, water sports and relaxation. Other attractions in the area include the abundance of nature and wildlife, with sightings of dolphins reasonably common, but also whales and seals if you know where to look for them!
Our popular menu offers a vast variety of grills and pub classics which go perfectly with our fine cask ales and delicious wines and there’s nowhere better to enjoy them than on our patio overlooking the bay.
We are also proud to offer a fantastic range of function and event packages to cater for all occasions. From formal, three course sit-down meals with arrival drinks, to an evening buffet with accompanying entertainment, we would love you to see what we have to offer.

Have used the bar/restaurant many time over the years but never stayed in the hotel. Fabulous room with sea views, all the facilities you need. Have meal.in evening and had a 30% voucher to use off main menu, had a stunning cod and chips, the batter was amazing. Booked breakfast too, really enjoyed. All staff were nice and friendly. Would definitely stay again.
*Hotel "Small Portion" Penwig* My visit left me disheartened, primarily due to the lackluster chicken and bacon club sandwich. The chicken's rubbery consistency and the tasteless bacon felt deliberately vindictive. Look at it, it's the same type of bacon is the same as you get in a Tesco meal deal. I don't understand how you could make a £9 sandwich so badly. I think it's a Marston's chain, and I suspect they are serving subpar, cutcorner, cheap ingredient meals across all their sites. I don't intend to find out.
We stayed the night and had a meal, and had a wonderful welcome from Colin - what a lovely guy! The food was freshly cooked and very tasty, and the room was ideal - a family room across two floors, with doors in between - ideal for travelling with older children. The location is excellent, and I would highly recommend staying. The image is from the doorstep of the accomodation (at the back of the pub).
We stayed for a week in September. The staff were very warm and friendly. Colin handled check in and Lynn introduced herself as housekeeper to ensure we had all we needed. View from the room was brilliant. We had breakfast each day, loads of choice and a couple of evening meals that were great VFM. We totally recommend it.
This pub chain is nicely situated overlooking the bay. We chose to sit inside because of who we had with us. The staff were very helpful and accommodating for our needs. We had lunch here, it wasn't too busy I chose pulled pork baguette and my niece had macaroni cheese starter. While the food was tasty my pork was cold, not sure if it was supposed to be and just served with some chips, a little garnish would have made a difference for me. Moderately priced and what I expected to pay for this, in the area.
