The Old House is situated in a rural location approximately two miles south of Maesteg, immediately to the south of the village churchyard, and accessed from the road around the churchyard walls.
The Old House is outstanding. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food is superb! Stayed overnight with my partner for a birthday treat. The room was beautiful and very clean, and he'd arranged for a bottle of prosecco to be in the room for our arrival which was a lovely touch. The only downside was that the mattress wasn't particularly comfortable, but it didn't spoil our stay. Breakfast was lovely, full English and continental served in the restaurant with a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. It's not a cheap place to eat, but it is worth every penny! I highly recommend a visit.
Sunday Lunch. Warm welcome from Tony (Front of House). It was very busy and the atmosphere was wonderful. Staff were polite and attentive. Starters were all served hot and were very tasty. The choice for mains was Beef and Lamb which were served hot accompanied by roast potato, parsnip and carrot. 4 choices of veg were also served. The quality and quantity of food served was excellent. Great meal, atmosphere and staff. Highly recommend a visit.
Food was good, not amazing but was OK. £18 an adult for a Sunday main. We had a vegetarian family member who has an allergy to mushrooms. The only vegetarian option on the menu contained mushrooms, and was told there was no alternative available. This person had to have a plate with just vegetables but charged £18 like everyone else. When queried we were told it was not possible to adjust the price due to it being a "set" menu. Also it was so hot in the restaurant it was uncomfortable.
Great pub restaurant, lovely grounds for a sunny day and very nice indoors as well. Reasonably priced, great Quality and friendly staff.
Nice upper market pub b&b inn type stay with amazing views of Welsh countryside and hills. The evening meal and breakfast was good quality. The room was spacious and my room had an extra double bed bunk bed. Perfect for a night stop over on the way to Port Talbot.
