After helping my daughter move house in Stafford, I was on my way back home towards Devon with it being a Sunday. I thought why not I’ll splash out and have a nice Sunday lunch. Google nominated the old house at home pub and carvery as it was near to the route I intended to take. I’m so glad Google loves me so much that it sent me here What a lovely building I was greeted at the door and was seated immediately straight to the bar place my order for a carvery has to straight the queue within five minutes. I was seated with my man in front of me all I can say is “onion gravy “wow, absolutely delightful and delicious. I would like to say I’m going back again, but as I said it was on my route, but I would recommend to anybody passing through all local. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Good pub , but a bit smelly... they can do a bit of deep cleaning. The carvery was good. They have a good size parking. The staff is friendly and they were nice enough to find us a table even the place was packed.

Please if you're considering bringing your children here for soft play, I'd find somewhere else. There was nowhere to sit, an a party which booked a table 30 minutes in advance to our arrival was a priority for seating although nobody was there yet. We had to sit in a corner, away from everywhere else and when ordering a coke at the soft play till, for £3.40, this was presented. Honestly would not recommend not only for the lack of attitude, but also bad service and a ridiculous portion sizes.

Came across this lovely friendly pub, great food with a good menu, and service spot on. They have pay phone chargers on the bar, plenty of TVs to watch games, etc. I think the only neg, is from standing at one end of the bar near a till. You're asked to come over the other end to be served even just for a pint. Would definitely go back as a great selection of beers and loved the Steak & chicken fondue, spot on. Pictures are taking early on before it got busy.

I have not been to the Old House at Home before, but my visit this afternoon around 2pm was perfect in every way. The lady who served me at the bar was very welcoming, genuinely friendly and quick to get through everyone waiting to be served. No complaints at all - top service! Outside, there is lots of seating, with some under cover areas too. I notice a decent selection of condiments inside to allow to go and eat and drink outside. I really do rate highly the dog water and snacks point out the front, it makes the difference between somewhere that just tolerates dogs and those who love the furry friends to come along! Inside, the tables are all clean and cleared quickly. I then sat in the bar area, which because of the time of the day is quite quiet and peaceful. Perfect for catching up with some work! Notable point, is the WiFi. It is very good! Quick check on Speedtest show 50.3Mbps download / 79.5 Mbps upload. Amazing when consider other pubs slow speeds. Makes for using laptop a breeze! Plug sockets dotted around the place too. Visited the toilets during my visit, the gents were a little tricky to find - possibly a sign on the wall to point to them by the bar could be useful. They were clean, fresh and everything expect to be. I didn't eat here during my visit, just drinks - but the food looked good. It's quite a chilled place - and found it to not be like a zoo crossed with the wild west that some family friendly places are. Conclusion: I will certainly return, and will try the food for myself on an evening. Thank you for the perfect visit - keep it up :) Update.... since the review.... I did stay and eat. The carvery and service was fantastic.... really is highly recommended.
