My husband and I went here for an evening meal on 16/09/23 and I have to say, the food and service were fabulous! I’m gluten-free (necessity not choice) and Gary the chef did an amazing job of my meal, it was really good and I enjoyed my two courses. The hosting staff were also very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating, I would definitely go here again if I were in the Hexham area.

Amazing host, we were looked after well with our dog. Food was brilliant, proper pub food, all home made. Very reasonably priced - will definitely return next time in area. Well worth a visit.

Chef Gary and servers Jo and Ellie provided our party of four with a memorable dinner. Delicious food and friendly attentive service. Highly recommend the homemade meat pies and chef’s special (we were offered moussaka on our visit) - you can’t go wrong. Great value as well.

Just a wonderful experience. Food was top notch — clearly home made and delicious. Chicken tikka pie, fish and chips, and moussaka all delicious. Dessert outstanding. Chef Gary knows what he is doing. Good value. Beautiful riverside location. Staff was warm and welcoming. Couldn’t have been happier with this.

I'm really sorry to post a review like this, but it has to be said, especially with the amount of 5 star reviews. The food wasn't anything special, nor was the ambiance and lighting. As for the food, the prawn cocktail starter was served in a beer glass with half a bottle of cocktail sauce over it, too much in my opinion. The chips served with the main courses were undercooked(fried). The steak and beer battered cod were ok. The desserts were disappointing, old cheese served on a regular diner plate instead of on a wooden board, sticky toffee pudding with no sticky sauce, Cappuccino with a large cup of brown sugar with which you can bake a cake. Depending on your dining preferences, this could be OK for you. To be honest I wouldn't go here if I knew what I know now.
