This is a good review not of the rooms. We rang ahead as there were 10 adults and 5 small children in our group. Got told that wasn’t going to be a problem and we arrived to a room and 3 tables set aside for us. They got a tab running for us and were attentive to check we were good for drinks throughout our time there. Everyone enjoyed the food, I got the steak sandwich which came with chips and salad. I didn’t get asked how I would have liked it to be cooked so had a moment of dread but thankfully the meat was medium rare 😅 If you’re in the village staying like we were or passing through then I would recommend for a food stop

Visited today for Sunday lunch. The table had been booked, but no sooner had our plates been cleared, we were asked to move into the bar, which was busy, standing room only. A large group was hanging about waiting for our table. We had only had the table for 30 mins. We drank up, paid and left. The food was lovely such a shame about the service.

The young lady serving was lovely but the food was average at best. Both had steak and ale pie which was exceedingly dry but no fat or gristle and we did get extra gravy, which was certainly needed, but lacked flavour. Nothing was seasoned properly. It was good that the veg came in a separate bowl and wasn't the usual boring peas and carrots but the leak could've been nicer cooked. Just not much effort generally, so don't feel like we need to rush back. Oh, and the toilets were terrible. They stank and a urinal was out of order and just really old fashioned and way off today's standards.

I always worry when there isn't an online booking service for a restaurant or pub meal but here our email booking a table for 8 was answered at 11 p.m.! So we turned up for Sunday lunch having been recommended by our landlord. The buffet lunch was excellent as was my steak pie. Staff were lovely, smiling and helpful. Everyone who had meat from the buffet said it was excellent.

Went for food, it was absolutely amazing, I had the chicken parmesan, my husband has the Turkish mixed grill. Would recommend to anyone. Staff were friendly and the location was fantastic, can't think of anything bad at all to say . Thanks so much
