I recently had the pleasure of dining at this pub, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience! The roast beef was absolutely delicious – cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. It was a delight that left my taste buds singing! The service was impeccable, and a big shoutout to the manager, Sophie, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic dining experience. Her warmth, attentiveness, and knowledge of the menu truly enhanced our visit. I can't recommend this pub enough. If you're looking for a delicious roast and exceptional service, don't miss out on this gem!
We’ve previously always enjoyed our food here, but had a very disappointing experience tonight. First it took 40 minutes for the food to be delivered (including a scotch egg, admittedly tasty, from the starters - bizarrely coming with garlic sauce rather than piccalilli). But then when it did come the burger was over cooked and the roasted courgette salad with radicchio, vegan feta and hazelnuts (£14) turned out to be some scraps of iceberg lettuce, six or seven discs of cucumber, some feta and a bit of red onion. No radicchio or hazelnuts in sight so sadly lacking in flavour and substance. I wish I’d read other recent reviews commenting on the salads in particular! To be fair one of our group was very happy with the macaroni cheese and the fries were quite nice.
Watched the rugby.......staff were great even though they were run off their feet. Burger was good but friend had the bavette steak and wasn't impressed. All in a great pub in an amazing location.
Lovely location overlooking the canal. We got there before the lunch crowd, so had the choice of any seat. Nice menu selection. Easy to order at the bar. Staff were polite.
What a disappointment. Whilst the booking process was smooth, the rest of our time there was just about mediocre. 6 of us dined near the balcony, and it kept getting cold because people couldn't be bothered to close the door behind them. For the whole evening. The staff was attentive but not very competent. We places some drinks orders multiple times and they never came. The food was ok. I preferred the fries to the fish of my eponymous dish.the scotch egg was nice, but the burger was very average. What shocked us was the beetroot and feta cheeses salad. It was clearly made from scraps of salad, with four slices of beetroot and two cubes of feta. All of that for the astronomical sum of £14. The redeeming dish was the apple and plum crumble. The crumble was a bit sweet but otherwise, it was quite nice. Beer selection was decent, but our incentive for going was that they allow dogs. We won't be returning.
