About us

Formerly the Wallingford Arms, The Mulberry now offers a stunning bar and restaurant in the heart of Didcot. No matter what the occasion The Mulberry is perfect, whether you're looking for a quick lunch, afternoon tea, celebration dinner, business meeting or simply meeting with friends for a few drinks.

The bar with a range of seating options is ideal for groups/societies looking to meet locally.

The old brick conservatory dining room overlooks the open kitchen where you can see Pizzas being cooked in a traditional wood-fired oven. We use Sourdough to create truly authentic pizza which is also available Gluten Free.

We source our meat from local butcher Calnans in Watlington sourced locally where possible and cooked in our recently acquired Bertha Charcoal oven.

We done breakfast with Santa. Santa was fantastic really great with the children and the staff were lovely as well. Food was ok nothing amazing and they didn't have any cold options just a fry up no cereals or anything like that. I was a bit shocked that we paid £60 as a family of four for a buffet breakfast and then received a drinks bill! I thought a buffet breakfast would include one drink each of our choice but apperently not that was the only let down so really it cost us £72 for the 2 hours we had there. Was great apart from the drinks bill.

We visited here 2 weeks ago and was really impressed then Wednesday we turned up and took a seat. We ordered and awaited with great anticipation. The food arrived the veg for my meal were on my husband's plate and my husbands veg were on my plate. So lack of attention to detail comes to mind. Our attention came to the cutlery face down into a rusty tin. Then as we tucked in the veg it was raw this burst the bubble of excitement. The staff are lovely. No management were available to address the issues. The waitress said the cutlery tins are put in the dishwasher. My advice is to go and have drinks only.

We went there for Sunday carvery for the first time. We got there just after midday when it was being put out on the servicing station , all looked lovely, but unfortunately the vegetables was all cold, we had 2 meats (beef and chicken) and a large Yorkshire, and for the cost of £20 per person which we thought was a bit expensive. All I say is,, warm the food up better and it would have been more enjoyable.

Went to the Mulberry for a Sunday calvery. B.E.A.utiful. There is a choice of a small or large plate which is brilliant if you are a small person - just right for my daughter. I had the beef and I can honestly say it was melt in the mouth perfect. The deserts are excellent too. 👌 One improvement I could suggest is it was a little cold in the room - turn the heating up?

Wasnt brilliant they were 2 chefs down so the menu was reduced down to starters and pizzas. Not a good start as my sister isn't a fan of pizza had we been notified we would have cancelled. Myself and my sister started with calamari was ok a bit overdone so was a bit chewy my friend had the garlic crispy mushrooms which were nice. Pizzas were ok I think they need to fire up the oven a bit more as the base was a bit chewy and not the normal light airy crispy base that pizzas normally are when they are cooked in a wood fired oven. Lots of rocket lettuce was on top of it which none of us like so we spent a good few minutes picking it all off. It didnt really have that restaurant feel it felt more like we were in the middle of a nightclub. I'm beyond pleased that it was packed to the rafters. It's just down the road from us so I really hope they do well. If you want a nice meal and a catch up it's not really ideal for that. Ok for the youngsters though. I'm too old for all that I like to be able to get too the loo without having to navigate my way through the crowd who cant hear you when you say excuse me. It hasn't put me off one bit but I think we will try out the lunchtime rather than evening I think. Cant wait to try the sunday roast. Just hope its suitable to take my elderly mother? I will update you on my next visit. Update 01/05/22 Sunday lunch, table was booked for 1pm ordered drinks bit of a mix up with mine asked for lime and lemonade but got soda water instead of lemonade was sorted quickly, there was a choice of 3 meats chicken breast, beef and roast pork, its 14.99 if you have 1 meat and 18.99 if you have 2 meats. You order your meat then they let you know when it's ready for you then you go up pick up your plate with your selected meat on and help yourself to the vegetables. Jugs of gravy are delivered to your table, the vegetable choice was carrots, broccoli, red cabbage, peas, roast parsnips, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese, oh and stuffing and a big ole yorkshire pudding. so we ordered our meat but had to wait 45 minutes until it was ready. Was all good until another table must have been told their meat was ready, was getting our veg when instead of joining the queue they came from the other side the thing is the plates are quite hot and it's not a large serving area. so it's a nightmare when you are standing there trying to navigate and wait. My niece wanted some cauliflower cheese but gave up as she couldn't get to it and just wanted to put her plate down. It was just plain rude and should have been controlled better, everything was absolutely gorgeous the meat was so nice and the veg was fab especially the roast parsnips. The only thing none of us liked was the roast potatoes they look fabulous but for some reason were really chewy and old tasting. Literally out of the 6 of us nobody liked them. Gravy was fine a bit thin for our liking but ok. If you want any sauce ie apple or mustard you just have to ask. We all had pudding(not included in the price of the roast dinner) 2 of us had the affagato(vanilla ice cream and espresso coffee) 2 peeps had rum and raisin ice cream, I had 3 scoops of ice cream chocolate and caramel, swiss chocolate and caramelita, and 1 had sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. All the puddings were to die for absolutely loved them. And 4 of us had filter coffees with a jug of warm milk. All in all I think it was a massive improvement on the last time we went. Cant fault the staff they were superb really looked after us. Nothing was too much trouble. Been back twice now service is second to none, staff are fabulous and food has been lush roast potatoes were much improved on the last visit. I just wish there was another potatoe option and not just roast potatoes . Thoroughly recommend the starters and shares option at lunchtime which serves between 12 and 2pm. You pick 3 starters you get a bowl of chips free. Loved absolutely every thing we had,
