Decided to come for Sunday lunch carvery. Lovely old pub in a quaint cornish village. Nearest car park about 600 yards away. Plenty of room inside with terrace outside too. Good choice of beers. lagers and of course ciders. Choice of 3 meats, Beef, pork and gammon. You can have, as we did 2 meats. Plenty of choice of veg but would recommend getting there between 12 and 1 as there was not much of each left at 2pm. Gravy is to die for. Rich flavour. Very reasonably priced at £9.50 for small and £12.50 for large. Altogether a lovely meal

Please do not go here for food or accommodation. Firstly, this location, although registered as a hotel offers no accommodation (a fact they only mentioned a week before the check in date, despite booking months in advance). Secondly and foremost, the restaurant was an absolute shambles. Upon arrival, we were told the already extremely limited menu (~8 total main options) didn’t contain a catch of the day or fish and chips (I.e. 25% of the menu was absent). Our order took a subsequent 1.5 hours for the first dishes to come out. These were chicken and chips meals: the chips were cooked in old oil and far too crispy to pass as chips. The chicken meat was also somewhat questionable cooked, so we didn’t want to take the risk in eating. After a further 15 minutes whilst the rest of us were still waiting for our food (1.75 hours after original order time), we decided it was enough and left. The one saving grace was the wait staff who remained friendly and apologetic throughout.

Fabulous carvery today. All the meats(pork, beef and gammon) were cooked to perfection and succulent. Veg was excellent. Makes a change to have cauliflower cheese that actually has some cheese in it. Creamed swede and leaks were fantastic. Topped it off with proper gravy. Will definitely be trying this again.

Sunday lunch did not live up to the reviews. Was very poor. Meat ok, cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes acceptable but vegetables were all cooked in vinegar really the worst roast we have ever had. Nut roast basically stuffing with a few nuts, vegetarian gravy was like slime. Lady at the carvery very friendly and good service and tried her best but the food was terrible. Keep it simple with the vegetables, will be much improved.

We had the Sunday lunch carvery. Reasonably priced (£12 regular carvery, £9 small). The regular size carvery gives you more choice of the meats. Quality of meats and vegetables were good. Staff were friendly too. You cannot argue that it is good value for the money. The venue itself is looking a little tired and toilets need updating. However that aside If you want a reasonably priced Sunday lunch then you can’t go far wrong with the Mounts Bay Inn.
