About us

Hills and valleys, views that demand a sharp intake of breath. A short drive from the beautiful market town of Clitheroe for browsing and lots of coffee shop stops. And then, of course, the vibrant city of Preston or bustling town of Blackburn for life in the faster lane.

Our hotel rooms are blessed with caring little touches that will make you feel right at home here in Lancashire.

Get cosy in our classic rooms. Enjoy the extra space of a county room. Don’t worry about booking separate rooms if you’re staying with a partner or travelling companion. You can book one of our Twin rooms, which are designed for sharing.

When it comes to food and drink at the hotel, you’ll find our menus packed with inspiration. We use fresh, seasonal ingredients from local suppliers to add to that special Ribble Valley something. Tuck into fried chicken wings, roasted pork belly and other flavoursome dishes by our talented chefs.

A much nicer experience this time round at The Millstone. Went for brunch this morning, a wet and miserable Monday. Sat next to a lovely log fire and enjoyed a pot of tea and Scrambled egg with smoked salmon. Hubby had the same. It was filling and great value. Even George the hotel cat agreed.

We didn't stay at the hotel. We just had a meal and drinks as we were staying elsewhere and the food at our hotel wasn't great. Couldn't fault this place. Service was outstanding. Food outstanding. Drinks outstanding. Place is outstanding. It's better than pub grub. It's very very good pub grub. Well worth it. Would definitely recommend and would call again. A*

I would like to share my experience of having a meal at the restaurant last weekend. We went for a birthday 🎂 celebration and regretted it. It started with placing our small grop next to a party table of 14-16 people, although the restaurant was pretty empty. The food for all 3 of us was not cooked well. The chips were overcooked and vegetables were testless. Both steaks were undercooked and a chicken burger was not good either. The steak meal for one costs £23 - £26. We did not enjoy the time or food at restaurant. We were coming to this restaurant for many years and the food was alway good. It is very disappointing to take your family for a nice food and be upset by a bad quality of it.

Fantastic stay at the Millstone. We had a one night stay here as a pit-stop en route from Scotland to London. Cannot fault it - the staff here were incredibly accommodating, the location was good (10 minute drive from the M6 but a world apart), delicious and reasonable food in their restaurant. We had our dog with us and they could not have been better about it - she even had her own bed, bowls and biscuits in the room! Will absolutely stay here again and recommend to friends and family

Had a lovely stay at The Millstone. Room was upgraded as a special treat for our wedding anniversary, room was very spacious and comfortable. Despite it being above the bar, I had been worried about noise, but this was not a factor at all and it was very peaceful. Food was of a high quality and really delicious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return to stay again in the future!
